I ride a 12 and my brother in-law just got a 98 ZX9

I there anyone still active here?

I was wanting to know is there any particular issues he should be aware of?

For example the 12 s all have stator/head light issues at some point.

Hi chango. I had a 99 zx9r but sold it for my 12. The 99 and 98 models supposedly had gearbox issues but mine was fine try here for more info http://www.zx-9r.net

Love my green 2000 9r. No problems to think of for normal street and canyon driving. Heard that the frame is subject to cracking from wheelie dropping, but that's about it mechanically. It's an awesome road bike for long distances, mine having a touring shield which is about 2" taller than the stock bike.

Best bike I've ever owned. Love it so much I'm considering another. Yes two!

Hi zx12bry,

I have just bought a zx9r c2 on a 99 plate, when I was riding it for the second time I slipped into a false neutral between 3rd & 4th, is that part of the problems that you have heard about or is there more? I must admit she needs some work to her and I did buy her cheap, so I can't really complain, I love her to bits already, had her for a week, gt 22k on her & some service History to 11k, rides like a dream though.

Cheers smudgezx9r
