Hard to compete with a bike that has at least 50lb's and 25rwhp advantage. I think the reason you guys locked up in terms of MPH up top is because of his horrible tuck. No doubt forced by his ridiculous windscreen. I think I also caught you drafting too, lol. Overall, it was cool that you took such a suicide mission and actually volunteered to post the vid. The MPH:Bikelength ratio is usually 2.5 bikes per 1mph between similarly skilled riders. The fact that you pulled equal mph yet achieved it 10+ bikelengths behind shows the R1 beat you, not its rider. I'm shocked you didn't ask to swap bikes for a rider comparo. |

Drafting?!?!? What ARE you talking about!?!?!?!? We both ended up near the center...thats how I saw it ;-) This particular 9R was always shy of the 130 RWHP figure on our dyno, a best of 129: ![]() R1s on our dyno of that gen (we've dynoed about 3 or 4 of those gen thus far) are always in the 140s...best of 149.xx RWHP with an 06 LE model tuned. FWIW the 07 broken in "proper" with a mixxed exhaust system, BMC Race filter broke 160 RWHP on our dyno...and ours is STINGY. That would put the actual projected RWHP variance at about 15....and probably closer to 12 or 10 when ram air comes into play. At "best" total weight was even but I think he had a slight nod...the 9R isn't exactly a svelte balerina. He's still picking up speed. He went 170.3 last time ... and before that he was on a twin so it takes time to learn...he's looking at different windshields for SURE! Thougth about swaping but I'm sure I would have checked out hard on him, not to mention the 9R isn't technially "mine" to swap out. Owner may have been fine with it but ya gotta respect the terms of a loaned out bike. I've never launched that bike hard from 1st gear or wheelied it. Phantom, you know me....win or lose I always run. I'm a facking fiend. Some only race to win....some race to race....with the hopes of winning. Don't get me wrong, I'm hell bent on winning, but I don't mind these types of matchups in the least...it makes you try harder...and if you lose... you can always blame it on the age/weight/carbs/gearing/etc, lol.
