hello everyone I'm new to any forms so please bear with me....I have a 2001 Kawasaki zx750r I bought the bike for 800 bucks its in good shape.
my question is this...... the bike isn't in running mode at this time do to cdi box I do have one on the way so it will not start.... I can put the bike in first gear by pushing down no prob. there and I can find natural but I cant get it to go in 2 ? any ideas on this ?
I was told that Kawasaki has a safety thing where it will not go to 2 with out it running is this true ? that the gears was made like this just in case you was on a slant or hill parking?
its my first bike...every other bike ive had dirt bikes that is you could shift all gears with out it running... can some body please help me understand....
also the N light doest come on its getting juice in the wires but the bulb dosent come on and the bulb is new tried 8 bulbs and thinking something is wrong with transmission....someone please help

The bike or at least rear wheel needs to be going round to enable you to select up into second. Its a kawasaki thing, maybe other makes too.

If you're getting 12 volts (battery voltage) at the push on connector to the neutral sensor, then the sensor is not working, or to much oil in the engine can some times cause the internal contact not to make.

You can unscrew the neutral sensor and check the little nipple on its end is slightly sprung loaded, and clean it.

For Tech Questions Bike Model letters are more useful than saying the year, for uk owners anyway, as registration year is not always year of manufacturer model.

as ninjayorkie said its a kawasaki thing, positive neutral its a pain when you have to push start get it moving jump on then go up into required gear before dumping the clutch Craig

if anything goes wrong check the battery
