If you can help it don't sell your 12, keep both if able. I went down this path when I got a new '08 14, sold the 12. Looong story short I now have a 12 again and no 14!!

As far as hitting 200mph, I guess derestriction, pipe, pvc and a long road. If I'm not mistaken even a 12 can get close if given the right conditions and no limit on the road length. I'm sure wiser heads will give correct advice.

Cheers,

Don.

It wasn't that I didn't like the 14, more that I missed and liked the 12 more! It was one of those times when you sell a bike then realise you never should have.

The 12 (A1) is a lot more raw and less refined than the 14, but I liked that. I couldn't keep both at the time and thought the 14 was a natural progression. nothing wrong with the 14 and I certainly wouldn't mind a zx14r, just not at the expense of selling the 12.

So this is what has lead me to get work done on the 12 and put my money into that - personal choice. You really have to go by what you feel suits you. The newer zx14r's are fantastic bikes (test rode one), and as other wiser blokes on here have shown, it's very capable in the speed stakes with relatively small mods.

I was in the same boat, but I had an 05 ZX12R. Guy in an SUV ran me over after he crossed the double solid yellow and totaled the bike. So I got an 08 ZX14. Initially I didnt like the seating position on the 14 compared to the 12, but I got a Corbin and now its so much better. Anyways, the 14 did 215 mph on the local dyno with a Full System, PCIII w/dyno map, K&N filter, Brocks emission block off cap, Schnitz ECU flash and Secondary flies out. Of course thats with zero weight on the bike and no wind resistance. Their dyno claimed 187 HP and 111 TQ at the wheel.
