Insurance quotes knock me ta ***k out!!!

Oh my god!!, Just got a quotes from Geico, Statefarm and Progressive and I have to tell you that it's depressing. The best quote I;ve got was $2,000 a year with $1,000 deduc. My B-king was just $273 a year, well, living in Miami is not always a great place to live, I'll tell you that much.

Wonder if other things are factoring in the quotes they gave you?

Age, driving record etc...

I was quoted around $600+ a yr full cov for a '12 14r & the same for a 12 Busa.

State Farm.

There are many variables to insurance rates. The 14R is a new machine. Parts cost alone will increase your rates should the bike sustain damage. The location you are in is indeed a big factor. You don't get a pro-rate. You pay the full shebang there. You don't get winter. You also have those funny things called hurricanes...which increase liability and therefore increase your policy.

One thing I find curious tho, anything with a ZX designation gets high rates. The ZX12 is actually classified as a Sport Tourer, which by that very designation makes it a much cheaper vehicle to insure, but the ZX designation is all they see, and the underwriters automatically assume the worst. Sport bike riders don't have the best of reputations. Statistics show them to be a liability to insure. Once you have proven that you are not an idiot with the bike, your rates will fall dramatically. Age also plays a role as well. Driving record. Accidents. Storage. Security features. Location in which you live (high theft rates in the area ect...).

You should look into whatever discounts you can get, but unfortunately, to insure a hypersport bike, it's spendy, at least at first. There is no comparison to a cruiser. Cruisers don't go 200mph when deristricted...

350 a month??? Holy shit. That's spendy as hell. $4,200 a year full coverage.

I paid $235 for a full year full coverage on my ZX12R this year....

I guess I'll put off getting that 14R for a while. That's crazy for insurance.

Send a message via AIM to Lou zx12r
I have had just the basic do to winter and that was $290. Soon I will need to raise it to full insurance. I called and asked how much just to see. It is going to be around another $400 for the rest of this year with full coverage. Total $690. It's not too bad but I still think it higher than it should be.
I have 5 cars, a home, and 4 3 motorcycles insured you would think I'd get a break. This is in Mass.

I dont know Kawabunga... the OP was quoted $2000 for 1 bike. I would complain about that... or move to Ohio. We have better roads here anyway. :)

ok, outside of the OP everyone has some awesome rates!

And the b-king for under $300 a year!!!

I was quoted $1450 a year as my cheapest rate on that!

Again....... i'm not saying that $2000 was a good price.......

Anything out here, above 900cc's, you can expect to pay $1200+
(and this is all quotes on bikes 5 years old and older that I was quoted on)

And.....
I'm 34 married and have no tickets.

ohh, and the zx12 is blacklisted for most companys in ontario!
Statefarm had my best price, but only if I moved my house and car with them.
After that was TD with $2300, and only one other insurance company and they had a 400% superbike surchage and wanted $4300
