Any older riders here?

Hi all,

I'm 44 years old, and seriously thinking of getting a ZX14. Used to have Z750, sold it a few years ago. Now that old itch has come back and have thought of going with a cruiser as it seems age appropriate but just can't do it. I had driven my buddie's ZX14 a few times and might just go ahead and get one. But I'm wondering if I'll look like an old fool on this beast.

So I'm asking what do you guys think?

Thanks,

Al

Welcome to the site, Al!!

I'm 57 & still riding my '00 ZX-12R... I have a lot of company too!!

Remember:
You don't quit riding because you get old. You get old because you quit riding.

Addressing your question directly: Yes, you might look like an old fool on the 14... But...
1) You can't see "you" from the seated position as you ride & enjoy!!
2) Hell, you might look like an old fool anyway (I know I do!!), so wtf - might as well have some fun!!

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

50 is the new 35..... It just don't feel that way.
Only old women look at us like we are old fools....
The younger crowd says " look at that far out old guy on that rocket.... I hope I'm stil doing that when I get his age"
You not even old enough to remember the KZs when they came out...
Seriously .... Get a 14 if you can get a deal.. fine machine..

I reserve the right to be wrong....

I am 75-ride a 14--just did 200.54 at Loring in july. Google Dave Sleeper 200 Club. Best bike I ever owned.

I'm 59 - I have a ZX12R and I'm pretty sure I'm going to cash it in on a ZX10 or R1 next spring. ( they fit me better as I'm a munchkin)

LOTS of older guys at our local race track.

Don't worry about it - if you get all self concious just use a dark visor and who the hell will know?

Im 57.

have a zx12 & a 2004 zx-10

did an Iron Butt on the ten a couple years ago.

Maybe I'll be content with something that has less performance when I do get old.

61 in 16 days. When I get "old" I'll opt for a more demure ride.

Whether you think you CAN or CAN'T... YOU'RE RIGHT.

IGNORANT and STUPID are not the same…but, one can be BOTH.

Welcome, althewhite!!

EDIT - I welcomed you twice, so I must really mean it!!

Excellent thread, great responses, fun get-to-know everyone!! I doubt our site's demographic is "average" among sportbike websites... I like to think of our group as "experienced"!!

There's nothing wrong with our younger riders, either... I think they're more skilled & knowledgeable than their counterparts on other sites (partly) because of information available to them from the older riders...

We have a pretty good thing here, guys... We shouldn't take it for granted...

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I turnt 51 this year - just a number. Below is a link to a 14R for sale in Colorado. The seller states he is 60 and his wife won't ride with him. I bet he has had some good rides up and down the Million Dollar Highway!

41 & 14R...I don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks. I will ride as long as I'm physically and mentally capable...well physically, I got over the mental part and deal with it.

I've given up riding once due to a couple hideous military back surgeries...I won't be throwing in the towel for a Long, Long time.

You would be supriszed at just how fast some of the 'old' guys are.

WTF is a KZ?
