dowside...

takes time away from riding my 12
aftermarket is really friggin' slow at giving us parts
no steering damper(not that it needs one).
dual exhaust is a pain in the ass when trying to put the kickstand down
helmet lock leaves your lid hanging on the left exhaust
something to do with the cases if you want to go bigger later...out of my knowledge base, its just what I've heard.

upside....
great gas mileage
sweet throttle response
butter clutch
comfortable
mad torque
simple mods to wake the angry ninja(pipe, pc, sprocket, secondary fly removal)
completely rideable(fast or slow)
smooth
easy to remove mud-flap assembly
kick ass brakes
turn-in is awesome, very predictable.
great 2 up riding
pretty much everything mentioned on the video.

Bottom line, the only thing that I really didn't like about the stock bike was the dual exhaust. Now thats not an issue, its perfect for what I use it for>>> a few trips down the strip once in awhile, touring solo or with my wife, screaming thru the desert at top speed, commuting to work....a very well rounded machine.

Downside:

Low Fuel Mileage
Zero Storage space
Very little aftermarket
Cats in Exhaust mean Mufflers are "Burn your skin hot" right to the tip.
Exhaust weighs a metric ton

Upside:

Stupid silly power and acceleration
Nice neutral handling
Easy to adjust suspension settings
Very comfortable seat and bars
Excellent Instrumentation and data screen
Silky smooth shifting and strong clutch
The brakes have just plain unbelievable stopping power
It's the center of attention wherever you show up

to the negative storage space. A small tailbag is a quick fix though.

No tail storage is a pain in the ass compared to the 12...

Other than that, the 14 rocks... no matter how ugly u think it is...

Flat out the best bike I've ever ridden.

My 12 sits parked...

This is in the 14forum. I don't understand why the people living in the past feel the need to come in here and bash it. Post in the 12 forum if you like drama. For the record it's way better looking than any zx12.

Plus, since when did the site lose its sense of humour? That is one of the things that kept this site going.

Maybe we need a poll in Gen Forum to determine which is the better looking betwext an ugly 14 and a pretty 12.

All I'm stating that it's poor character to bash the 14 publicly when many people on here own one. If you don't like it that's fine, no need to bash it's looks so others that disagree and own one have to read it. I think the concours and many other bikes of that genre are ugly, but I never publicly posted it until now. There's no need for me to because it will just piss the owners of them off. Dissing someones style or taste does not score cool points for personality.

Just my $.02, but anyone can post what they want about any bike. But, be prepared to experience the reprecussions, like disagreeing.:)

It's just opinions Nick. Everyone employs them. Good thing my Buell never gets bashed. Now that would really piss me off.

The 69 Camaro Z28 is the finest looking Camaro and most wanted Camaro of all times. Sure the newer shit may be better at some point ... BUT in the looks department the 69 will always have them all covered... The 12R will be sexy for years to come.. If it makes you feel any better Nick I HATED the looks of my 10R when I purchased the damn thing. The fact that it rocks everything that it comes across world makes it damn sexy to me.... I've owned two 12Rs at one time and would have another if the right deal came along. I would also own a 14 as well. The motor is why I would have the 14 more than looks.. I would like to see it weigh less and look more like a 12 but who cares.

True CBX and Gunner.

You guys make a good arguement. To each their own.

Although CBX, I'm sure if you were around someone that constantly bashed your Buell, you would eventually get sick of it and say something like, "ok, I think you ran it into the dirt now, you can stop." Come on...everyone has a breaking point.

No, now that wouldn't bother me. If I was around someone that constantly bashed beer, well, now that would. Beer is sacred, you know.

If you guys are so worried about HOW U LOOK on ur bike, it's time for ya
to move onto a Harley, and jump into the fashion show....

Somewhere in the riding of Kawis for the last 40 years I came to believe
that THEIR SOLE PURPOSE was to be fast, and kick every other bikes ass...

U haters need ta reset ur brains....

Well guys, you could say the 14 was visually challenged and be politically correct, but at least it's not a B-KING. Now that bike is sooooo ugly even Suzuki couldn't let it come back for a second year!

14's have no ground clearance unfortunately, I was scraping pegs and exhaust and I wasn't even going fast..a great machine let down by poor engineering detail.

Kawi's are green, the Busa is mean,
Honda's are red,the Kawi is dead.
The 14 is Bugly, the 12 is ugly,
The Busa is sweet and can't be beat.
You buy a Buell-you'll need more tools
it's Canadian made you crazy fool.
69 Camaro's fell apart, as the cobra gt very smart,
238mph you pussy -----yeah it's gonna rain on Sunday------so no ride on Saturday.
For the Busa is sweet and can't be beat.

Jackrabbit has a 14 and a busa... but he won't bring the busa out for me
to beat the shit out of it...

Every time I think I'm gonna get a piece of it he brings the 14 instead...

One day I'm gonna grind that busa biatch into the ground....

On a side note... rabbit parked it over at sportsmans, and someone promptly
shoved the busa biatch over on it's side... and NO IT WASNT ME....

Pro:
-Smooth engine
-reasonable handling
-excellent low end and mid-range (2008 onwards)
-great aftermarket appeal for mods
-faster than a Buell (that one is for CBXrated)

Con:
-heavy
-ugly (my opinion only others seem to like it)
-far too similar to the busa
-fuel range

In other words it comes down to how YOU feel about it!

I maintain that unless you have BOTH, no one is qualified to comment, other
than maybe sayin' they don't like the looks...

Kills me when others say the bike sucks, when they haven't even ridden one.

ONE BIG ELECTRIC MOTOR.... pulls from the getgo and never stops....

At high speed the bike is stable as a rock... I put my knee down on high
speed sweepers and it just doesn't wobble, shake, dance around, etc...
Offers total confidence that my many past 12's never gave... no matter
how the suspension was setup.

I will say that on my latest 14, it still had the stock tires on it... and it
did slip around in the turns. A new set of Pilot Powers and once again
this new bike is rock solid like my past 14...

I respectfully disagree. As long as the bike has been ridden the person can indeed provide an educated/informed comment. It is not 12R vs. 14 it is Pro vs. Con of the 14. If you want I can provide you with a back to back on how it compared to my 12R. It would not be fair though due to the time and money I have in my bike.

I am not slamming the 14 at all, I provided pro vs. con. It is an awesome bike, just not my cup of tea. Much like lets say, a Buell? LOL

Oh that wasn't aimed at you... BUT....

I will say that if you have both... you can ride one, then immediately
go ride the other... and if ya do this for weeks on end you notice
things that you never got from just one or two rides.

I switch back and forth days on end... and really get a chance to
anaylize the difference.

I sold my first 14... and kept riding the 12... and totally forgot how incredible
the 14 was... but I got a good deal so I bought another... started switching
back and forth, over and over. And hands down the 14 can outbrake the
12.... and out handle it as well... it is just so much better in the turns that
it gives you more confidence, and lets you run through the curves at a higher
speed.

Both my bikes are running Pilot Powers, both are setup similar in the
suspension dept, both are lowered one link in the rear... I'll make a pass
through the mountains roads here, then switch bikes... the 14 is MUCH
faster out of a turn because it has more torque and has a lower CG, so
instead of instantly wheelie-ing like the 12, it launches forward to the
next turn... and you can stay on it longer as the brakes on the 14 are nothing
short of perfection... one finder is all that's needed.

It's really like riding a slot car... instant on, then instant off.... just a friggin
blast in the turns...

I don't mean to be biased, I have both... but the 14 SHOULD be far
superior... it had 8 years more development after the 12... and the 16 or
whatever comes out in a few more years should surpass the 14.

I understand the diehards here being loyal to the 12... but it's sad they
don't recognize how much better performance the 14 offers over the 12.

Sadly, my 12 just sits unless I feel like doing a bunch of long wheelies.

This site is going nowhere. It should've just stayed ZX-12R.org. In my opinion I can't bring myself to respect anyone on this board anymore. The past members that have stayed here haved turned into one bike worshipping pricks. Maybe when the 12 is off the planet they will stop riding and go back to driving cars. Luckily new members are out numbering the old members. Maybe it will sweep them off the popularity ranks and turn this into a good board in the future.

I gotta agree Nick..

I know the 12 guys love their bikes... but I don't see why they feel the
need to go into the 14 section and bash the best superbike available...
Some sort of complex...

Guess no one likes to have a dinosaur...

Like you, I've grown tired of the BS.
