182 on 17t front?

Hi y'all, just did some street fun and GPS surprised me with 182 Max speed ....

How is this possible running a 17t front and stock rear?

Isn't the limiter supposed to kick in around 175?

It was a bit down hill lol but wouldn't think that matters.

186 is the stock limiter on 01 and up, I saw 176.5 GPS on my 02 with -1/ gearing and a 190/50 rear... sitting on the rpm limiter

A yellow box can remove the limiter, and/or a Speedohealer to correct the speedo.

Don't take this the wrong way but it sound like you don't know the bike. Before you go on high speed runs you should know what your bike is capable of doing it could save your life You got the mph from going down hill. You should practice on smaller bikes with less hp and understand the relationships between power, mph, and rpms then you'll understand what you are actually experiencing is a phenomenon called valve float. This could be the wayside if running aftermarket which is not possible with the demonstrative uncertainty of having ascertained the indicated mph.

I'm not taking it the wrong way, but please explain what valve float has to do with being able to push through the 186 mph stock limiter?

(Which with -1 in front should be around 175 according to this forum.)

Also just to be clear here is a list of bikes I've topped out

-ninja 250 101
-gs 500 102
-sv 650 132
-zzr 600 151
-ninja 600 154
-blackbird 164

These are just the recent ones that I have gps verified.

I work with bikes and have an ever rotating garage.

Again the limiter is well below redline so I don't understand why you would think valve float has anything to do with being able to go a bit past the limiter.

I was just asking because in the past I've always experienced the limiter as a hard limiter.

Also 186 was achieved on flat earth.

Again I changed gearing to what should be 208MPh at the limiter in 6th.

But I ran out of nitrous and room, so I ONLY got 186.

Gearing is stock front and -4 in back.

These are the facts. You say you make more power than ever (assuming this the same bike you have from before), lower 17t gear, less resistance going down hill but you have the same mph as stock. Noone knows if you have a limiter or not, maybe the bike does

Stock bike has 18t gear, about 50 hp less then what you have, on flat ground tops out same mph. So where did your extra 50 hp go? Drive chain losses at the chain?

Dude ur literally inept. I achieved 182 with 17t and no nitrous.

Then I went home slapped in a half empty bottle and changed gearing.

Went back out and only got 186 because of traffic ...

I never said my bike is the most powerful. There are plenty of way more powerful bikes.

My point last time was there are very few 12rs on this forum who have made over 200rwhp.

I'm one of the few.

And again. My question was regarding valve float.

Thanks for showing once again. U assume way too much.

And you know what assuming does. Makes an ass out of u. Not me.

I'll be going over 200 soon.

You keep dreaming... I'll keep doing.

17/46 on a 200/50 @ 11k should get you close to 182.

Gearing Commander is a awesome tool.

Excellent run on your 12 👍

andy, On a 16 year old road bike being cute as fuck is not a bad thing. That's kind of a bonus. I'll take it.

If Gearing Commander is correct i'll be looking at 17/45T with a 200/55 rear and the chain would be 115 links to be keep everything as near to OE spec.....once i've got the rear tyre fitted and measured.

Limiter kicks in at 186mph on 01+...

I've hit almost identical results with 17t front, so that sounds just right.
