Fuel pump ,again !! re-dynoed

Walbro pump all installed and fuel filter under tank (not in tank) .

took it to a well known zx12r chap ,he run it 1st and said it was well rich 150 bhp ish ?
he remapped it to 172 bhp 92 lbs-ft , he said leave it alone ,and all is well .

But i was not happy with it , at 5,000 - 6,000 rpm steady , you could feel it ,a on off throttle type thing , but only slight ,anyway it was already booked for a dyno ,so took there anyway , P.D.Q very good place to shop !
so the chap just done a power run , but he done quite a few full on max rev runs , and said i need to sort out my fuel pressure ? fit a AFPR .
he showed me all the numbers , and i had -60 ,he said you want those numbers right down ? i think i picked up on what he was showing me
I thought fitting a walbro 242 all new hoses and re-useable good quality filter outside the tank ,would of been a bit less hassle ?
So i am now looking at fitting a AFPR ,which again is not up my street ? may -be i am being a "rivett counting" type of bloke , all i want is for my 12 to make max power and run spot on , soon as !!

The gss242 will support 300+hp. You will need to run the high numbers to get your bike to run decent. But if you want better throttle quality a external fuel pump regulator is needed. Fp should be 40-43psi.
If the stock pump is good, you might consider reinstalling it.

i have not checked my fuel pressure , i assumed this pump would be suitable as is ?
i am still learning ! how do i check fuel pump pressure ?

The chap that done the power run ,showed me the chart with all the numbers and just said ,they are miles out and the pc v is struggling to compensate ?

How do you lads fit a AFPR to a A1 throttle bodies ?

He said with a AFPR installed he would be able to set the bike up how its meant to be ?

I still have one original pump and filter ,so i might resort back to original pump but keep the filter set up i have , ?

If the PCV is struggling you need to dial the map in closer.. it will pull a certain amount but can't fix if the AFR is waay off. The base map needs dialed.... you would think a dyno guy would mention that...

he just said that the fuel pressure is all over the shot ,and i need to set it with a AFPR 3 bar as a start approx ?

it was already trimmed by another dyno chap , he said just leave it alone it is o.k ?

gotcha... didn't see the note about the FP being wonky... once the FP is set correctly and steady, you can just look at the logs off the PCV and fine tune from there

you dont need an adjustable fuel pressure reg if your stocker is working properly. sure sounds like a restriction on the return side.

i will re-check all the hoses and also see if i have any shit in the sytec filter ?

do you think if i got a copy of the sheet with all the numbers on ,it would help to solve the problem ?

since doing the fuel pump and filter i have lost 5 bhp and 6 lbs-ft torque ! same dyno

i only done the pump because i had the 8,000 rpm wall ,then put another original second hand pump on and that done the same after 500 miles !!
All help/advice greatly appreciated .........Andy

You could be killing pumps from running against a plugged return check valve

i will re-check everything , i have looked inside my tank and from what i can see it is really clean , but both of the original filters that i back washed with carbrettor cleaner were really dirty ,loads of brown shit coming out !

the bike still pulls great , one thing the dyno chap said was that my rev counter is reading slow , so i have not been revving it enuff

i will not give up with this issue ,and will up-date soon , thanks for advice so far .....
