:scared:

If they indeed build this thing and unleash it on the world, well, I don't care what it looks like! That will be what it takes to open my wallet for another sport machine. Forced induction 300hp beast. Yep. That's a big enough upgrade.

But I don't smell 2-stroke oil. :-(

God, what I would give to smell 2-stroke oil coming from a street machine again.

I had friends that owned H1's, H2's and RD400's and they were quick. I mean really quick. Even back in the day there wasn't a 4-stroke in town that could keep up with my buddies 500 triple. He would (and did) smoke Honda CB-750's like they were turned off.

Fact.

I know technology changes and I love superchargers and turbochargers, but man - if Kawasaki offered a real rendition of the H1 i would be at the door and pay cash.

Any pics or anything??

Read about the H2 in UK bike press this morning
2 things stuck out, they can't do it on zx10 as it won't comply for racing
If they do it on a 1000 it will make the 14r redundant as it will be more powerful
So it will either be a small capacity high power(approx 500/600cc)
Or hopefully a full bore 14r with crushing HP figures
They are revealing it in Germany in October apparently

A supercharger is driven by the motor and typically uses a screw or Roots style compressor to compress the air charge. Think of a tornado and you'll get the jest of it.

A turbo impeller is driven by exhaust gas but essentially accomplishes the same goal - pack more air into the combustion chamber.

For a long time turbo's got beat up because of turbo lag - the turbo only spins as fast as the exhaust gas propelling it but modern turbo's are lighter, faster and more dependable then ever before.

Volkswagen/AUDI have really perfected the art of them over the last ten years as well as some other manufacturers.

But if you look at the big boys in drag racing, the funny cars and top fuel dragsters - it's pure superchargers.

If it gona work they will deff put superchargers on different models
Imagine zx10 with one lol
It looks like the engine might go up to 750.. Maybe we will se new zx7r

It don't make much sense to outdo your flagship model machine by a smaller machine. Bad for business. What would they need a big cc motor for then if they are pulling that power from a smaller engine? the engine they are referring to (and from what I have seen over the past couple years) is the engine in their water ski, the 300z or whatever it is. The monster of the waves. It's a supercharged 1498cc engine I believe. Why would they completely reengineer a new engine when they could save massive cost and use an existing platform and focus more on the machine as a whole itself?

Sure. They can pull big hp numbers out of the small engines. They cannot pull big torque numbers out of a smaller engine, unless like stated above, they make it a 2 stroker. In the 4 stroke world, there is no replacement for displacement. Give me a strong freight train 180hp over a weak pinto 210 any day. Hp is the measure of work done over time. The wattage of the bike. The torque is the current. It's what kills.

It wouldn't take much to adapt a supercharger to the existing 14 engine.

#15 ·
Agreed,no replacement for torque, but if you look at the cars and even F1 they are reducing engine capacity and upping HP,even premier manufacturers such as Bently are down sizing engines and increasing power.
F1 motors I think are 1.6 turbos and are exceeding 700bhp with imposed fuel limits per race.

#16 ·
I'm not totally 100% about this
But I'm sure I remember the most powerful qualifying engine in F1 was a 1.3 turbo that put out 1500hp,back in the turbo days of 25 years ago.
Iv had superchargers on cars, they are much better than turbos.turbo cars Iv owned have had to have 2 turbos, one in the lower rev range and one for the upper.
Chargers give instant thrust and better mechanical traction.
Anyways I'm very excited by it all, less weight more power,
Happy days,

Yea, but there's more engineering than just the hp numbers. In order to utilize that power, you need to get it to the ground effectively. If you are running your engine in high revvs all the time, then you are out of your torque curve anyways, and into hp realm. But if you want that balls to the walls acceleration, which is what the race is about these days because of the restriction, you want big torque.

The LSR guys will always mod their bikes for top end. The main demo and target for hyperbikes is the guy who can ride down to the strip and lay down a monster 1/4 to brag about, then ride to work the next day. This is why the hypersport big cc class will stay...

Remember the 2 strokes, they had fuck all low down
But shit, they were the most fun
I still remember my smokers, some of my happiest days, waiting for the mental powerband and the rush all at once.they were fun
Charger will deliver torque instantly,I loved the 750 era, they were top bikes back in the day.
My only complaint about my 14 is the weight,so to have the power with agility, count me in,
Long time since iv flicked a little bike around,it was good fun then and will be even better with big HP.

Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Poor sales of big bore sport bikes all over the world, poor sales of all kinds of bikes in europe, whats left?
An opening in asia. They arent buying the 14r or the 10r but will buy a supercharged 750 naked.

Harley paved the way, others will soon follow.

#24 ·
I have had every form of forced induction known to man on my street cars and can tell you the exhaust note/blow off valve in that video is a turbo not a supercharger!

#25 ·
Supercharging makes way more sense on a bike. Aside from the parasitic loss from actually running it, (unlike waiting for the exhaust gas) it means you'll get instant response rather than either running a tiny turbo or suffering from chronic lag.

The reason all the racers use Superchargers rather than turbos is pretty simple, the race is long since over by the time a decent turbo is actually coming "on-line". The Supercharger is giving puff up to a point, after than it doesn't need to do anything as the quarter is over. Supercharging for longer distances is more problematic, eventually the supercharger will become a restriction, at about the point a turbo would be handy

#27 · (Edited)
Totally agree , but in this case the supercharger is just like a procharger style setup ... it is basically a turbine that is driven buy a chain and srocket setup .... in other words it is basically the same as a turbo but instead of being driven buy the exhaust it is driven buy a gear ratio much like the rear chain and sprockets but opposite .
PS My personal thought is the bike is going to be a 750 , hence H2 .

There was another Kawasaki post yesterday.Picture profile.
It's small like a GP bike, profile looks like one aswell.
I think supercharged approx 700cc,180/200bhp
With a fantastic power/weight ratio,I'd expect sub 170kg,sublime handling
It's the only thing they could sell that could knock the S1000rr of top spot
Less weight equal power, more speed better handling!

Ninja H2: Vol.4 Performance Leaders: Ninja:
If it looks like at the end it's gona be more superbike than anything else
This vid shows the evolution of kawi bikes so does it means it will outperform zx14?
Thatsthe message Im getting after watching it

The initial reports are a patent for a supercharged engine based on the 1498cc jet ski engine. The design used for the bike sketches is the ZZR1400 body. These patents were filed a couple years ago, which is when folks were thinking that the 14R was gonna be something it ain't.

The bike most likely won't be a small cc bike. My bet is it's going to be a ZX-15R...or something to that effect. A complete domination machine to be the end all be all and dominate the world of motorcycle performance.

If it's a 750, I'll eat my words. But right now, my money is on a big bore hypersport machine.

I just hope they don't stick with the ZZR1400 body. At the very least, make some better cosmetic improvements to it. Take the comic book out of the design room.

Thats what im thinking ,they just show whole.evolution , I might have to get it
On another hand I want to see what other brands will produce in response to that haha
