Tom, I polish parts of my bike as a form of physical therapy. The bending and straightening helps my back, and the rubbing helps my hands, arms, shoulders, etc. I've been doing this at least every third day for the last year and a half....

The fan switch. It polishes up pretty well...

The levers and adjusters do too. They have some nice aftermarket levers, but the stock ones look and feel the way Kawasaki levers always have....

The dampers and fork ends look better when they shine......

Bare polished aluminum takes on a depth of shine that these pics really don't capture....... Oh, and I try to ride it once in a while, too!......:zxred:

I picked up a Green A1 ZX12, with 25,000 miles on the clock, last week, for a good price.

So far,

17 tooth front sprocket,
TPS mod,
static ignition advance,
quick action throttle insert,
front caliper strip and rebuild,
fit the alarm properly,
remove Oxford Hot Grips, replace with standard,
repair wobbly left mirror lens (will be on website soon),
'cat' already removed,
took Quill exhaust can apart, made it into a straight through, not optimum, but better,

To do,

air filters, k&n or bmc, choices, :headscratch::lol:
kleen air removal and vacuum procedure,
oil and filter.
re-make exhaust hanger,
replace right, rear indicator lens, melted for some reason, luggage I think.
and a bloody good clean:rant:

It had plugs when I serviced it last year, but will check them, NGK CR9EIX

And I'll have to have a look into a throttle body sync, not done that on a 12 before.

edit: its got a 'B' model front mudguard

Thanx Dave.

If I posted what I have spent on this bike, I would surely be committed to an insane asylum.

Last big ticket item was a full set of ABM rotors.

A zx-12 is like a crack addiction. You want to stop, but damn the high is so good.

From yesterday and today removed front brakes and MC, wheel, forks, took apart head stem (after finding slight 'notching' when checking bar to bar movement - thought now was a good time to replace headstem bearings). Later today will put in new headstem bearings (including seals and races).

Awaiting for return of '04 radial mount front forks with new RaceTech internals and will mount the zx14 MC and Nissin radial calipers I purchased...Then do my first throttle body balance with MotionPro set I just bought!

Sometimes I get just as much pleasure tinkering and fixing things on this bike as I do riding it!

Yep, I'm hoping to find some difference too!

Also just put in new roller style bearings and races in the headstem, have to give a big thanks to Warp12 as I got stuck with the different style of bearings to OEM and looked up his massive thread on his 1287 project bike to see pics and tips on install - finally found them on page 30!!!

The southern hemisphere is now tilting towards the optimum riding angle. I took my 12 out for its first decent ride in 6 months, accompanied by a 2010 X-plane R1 and a brand spanking V4 Tuono (which sounds like moto-pornography, by the way). Looking forward to months of riding ahead
