Hey everybody I have been lurking for a few weeks waiting to get a bike before i posted. Today was my lucky day, found a 2000 with 8500 miles on it that i paid $4500 for. I am picking it up next Tuesday morning and I can't wait to take it for a nice ride. For now the only thing I want to do is remove the Akrapovic and replace it with a full system with a carbon fiber can. The Akra has a scratch but other than that it is in great shape. If anyone wants to trade let me know. The bike is very clean and was well maintained.





I will post up better pictures when it is in my driveway.

The Akra IS a full system, you just need to swap cans.

Welcome BrianK. As Zumina said it has a full system on already all you have to do is change the can. Also did you know that you got the fastest colour. Others will tell you different but they are only jealous.

Really nice looking bike... but don't let these kids fool you. Red is quick but... unfortunately it's not the fastest. Metallic Sparkle Black is.

There are many sources for Akra stuff...

You think the Akra slip on for another application is going to fit on the ZX12? (serious question) I am not finding anywhere to get a replacement can for the specific application so buying a slip on system which usually includes a mid pipe seems like a pricey idea. If i sold my system for say $650 and bought a muzzy full system for $800 wouldn't that be cheaper for me? Again i am not being a smart ass just exploring options....

Yes, many of the cans are interchangeable. The mounting brackets are made to adapt to specific mount points. I readily admit I don't know which ones will fit, but there have been instances of members on here using non-12 cans. One critical point is inlet pipe diameter (& I'm sure there's others).

BTW - I didn't mean to mislead you, & I'm sure you can find others here who can offer more/better suggestions. Also - Watch the Classifieds here to find a replacement Akra can. It DOES happen!!

Ohhhh, so your looking for a 'flat spot' are you,

Muzzy are well known for there flat spot. unless well dialed in on a dyno, and even then it may still be there.

I'd stick with the Akra if I were you, just replace the end can.

Only my opinion though.

Unfortunately he's right... I run a full muzzy and even after having the exhaust redone (checked for and sealed any leaks, repacked can. etc) and a full custom tune done at a performance shop, I still have a 'flat spot' around 2,000 rpm... granted it's much better than it was originally... much better ... It's not the perfection I was hoping for.
