Will the zx14 engine fit on my zx12? I found a zx14 motor for an excellent price and was considering swaping if the motor will fit with minor mods.

Someone on Bikelands' ZX-12R forum did such a conversion. You can view it on the zx12 sleeper thread. It appears to be a real butcher job but, if you're talented enough, you should be able to achieve similar results in a neater fashion. Of course, you'll need the computer, wiring harness, clutch master cylinder, etc.

If you're interested in the performance gain, I STRONGLY suggest you stay away from the engine swap. Too much time and money involved for such a relatively small gain in performance.

You'd have a much better engine if you simply had headwork, cams, and raised rev limiter. There's no reason why you can't put down 190rwhp with stock pistons on a ZX-12R with the right head/cam/rpm combo. If you need more than that, you could always throw a progressive wet nitrous system on the bike and spray a 60 shot all day on a properly set-up/tuned STOCK engine and make 220+rwhp with no problem.

Both routes will yeild significantly better results than a stock ZX14 engine and will cost you much less to do so!

The ZX-12R is a stout platform with a lot of latent potential and a plethora of tried and true combo's and mods. There's no justification for an engine swap with these big bikes.
