:mfclap:what are common mods for a 2003 zx12r?i'm most concerned with comfort during 2-4hr rides and harnessing the big k's power lower/smoother in the rpm range while still getting 125+ to a tank.i'm 6ft 200lbs.i'm not so much concerned with top speed (150mph+),just getting the most out of this baby while touring/passing/street riding.thanks guys from reading earlier post i know i'm at the right place.

Nitrous oxide, radar/laser jammer, mirror block-offs, flush mount turn signals, license plate flipper.

Nothing much is needed for that kind of use. I recommend Heli Bars, maybe a slip on for a little more sound, a rear hugger to keep the suspension cleaner and some cosmetic changes to suit your taste. Gas mileage is pathetic, but I still get 150-170 miles to a tank, depending on the number of gas stations in the area. Miscalculate your mileage and you will find it hard to push, so err on the side of safety!

:headscratch: WTF? I get maybe 110 if I'm lucky. I've got a '00 with a full tsukigi titanium exhaust, PCIII USB with a very mild map, and -1 on the front sprocket +2 on the rear. I ride about 25 miles a day, and on the 4th day after a fill up, I'm well into the red.

what kind of setup do you have? All stock? mods?

my mileage blows

my bike is all stock except the d&d slip-on.i still get between 130 miles to a tank.well the last bar starts blinking at 130 miles.with just a pc III AND 17 tooth front sprocket, what kind of milage are you guys getting?and does the pc lll smooth out the throttle response and hp and torque through the real world rpm range?

My '02 has stock gearing, PCIIIR, Devil exhaust, K&N filters +3degrees timing and delivers a consistant 37mpg @ 75mph or below. My old ZX11 used to give 45-50mpg under the same conditions, even though it pulled a lower gear. I'm not exactly aerodynamic at 225 lbs. and 6 ft. tall either. Maybe the B models are just more fuel efficient! I've never yet reached my goal of 40mpg yet, although I have seen 39.

ships funny,, almost a 007 set up with the flip up doo hicky and NO2!
i run the Helis and a Corbin amongst other stuff,, those 2 should be first for the long rides,, maybe even gear her for the highway. i am a tad more than 225 and 6 foot,, i never take a chance,, i pull in for fuel @ 120 miles!

Forgot about the cut down tank with the spare fuel cell in the tail section....for those "county to county" persuits...

persuits was a type, I meant to say nice ke-ruuz.

..........my bike came with a "Zero Gravity" double bubble windscreen that sucked. I am 6 ft 2" and it directed the wind right in my face! I switched to the stock size zero gravity tinted and made a huge difference in overall comfort, now that the air flow went from my face to my chest.

tried the 17 tooth this week and went back to 18.

found it made the bike a bit more viby round town and a bit to urgent plus speedo is a fair bit out and £75 for a healer is a bit steep.

so not a good combo in speed trap Britain.

as for double bubble PC and removing the cat and kleen air crap plus the resetting the TPS all good on the 12r

i get a bit of tingling in the pinkys so if your going to do big miles risers might be a good mod too.
this is only a prob at legal speeds which is right on the viby 4-5k mark:thumbdown:

Wow I'm shocked nobody has mentioned a sport touring tire, gps, or 19 tooth countersprocket to keep the rpms lower at highway speeds.

Also I believe I read a post from Mr.Vincent Hill a while back where he said filling the handlebars with bb's takes away vibration. May want to do a search on that.

Other than that, gut the cat and get a pc3usb. Have it tuned for fuel economy below 80% tp.

New12man.. where at in Houston? Give a shout and you can try mine with the Helibars, Corbin, pipe, PC, suspension etc... fixing to put on a 17T as well.

I also have a Vario screen I haven't decided if I like or not... may be up for sale/trade...

I would say for just cruising, a throttlemeister and some good comfy grips. I prefer the stock seat over the Corbin. I wasted $200+ on a Corbin and my ass hurt after about a 45 minute drive. It does widen your stance. Im 6'3 and with the corbin on at stock height, im on my tippy toes, almost tipped the bike over when I came to a stop. After that, the corbin had to go.
