More aggressive exhaust

I currently have a Akrapovic full exhaust that works very well but sounds really harmless, I would like to have something that sounds more aggressive.
Could you suggest some exhausts in this category? Maybe even something of the shorty variety. Does anyone have a slash cut exhaust and how is it.

Thanks
Jeff

From what I've been been told:

Muzzy, MIcron, and the 'step' Hindle (race) are pretty loud. Also, unless it's sold there is a guy on here selling a full TI yoshi short can setup. Check the classifieds.

On a side note though. Whenever you find a replacement, I would deff be interested in your Akro. SERIOUSLY, PM me if you want to go that way.

Hope this helps,

Muzzy makes a full megaphone system for the ZX12R. Had one on my ZRX and it was very loud. I like the "quiet" power that my Akra full ti makes on my ZX12 though.

Gut your akro and it will be much louder and have more top end.Just drill out the rivets at the end of the can.Pull off the tip(takes alot of pulling ).Remove all the fiber glass packing and put it back together with new rivets and it will sound beastly. You can also wait 10k miles for the same effect lol.As a side note of all the pipes I like Micron and Brock for auditory delight lol.

The muzzy and micron might be loud, but the i have the stepped hindle (race) exhaust on my 00 and it's by far the quietest full exhaust i've heard on a 12. Of course the fact that the muffler has a 20" core could be why.

Gutted

NCONEGRO, while the whole neighborhood is outside shooting off fireworks
I gutted my canister. Now I am contimplating cutting it off and shortening it.
I will go to harbor freight to see if they have something to cut the carbon with. I actually had to take off both ends to get all the filler out. I really like the sound but the rain keeps me from riding it. I think I can live with this.

Just an FYI keep a fire Extinguisher handy that gutted carbon fiber can is gonna melt and catch fire!!!!!

how do i know? from experience during a 180mph run after i had slowed down and the rest of my friend caught up my buddy pulled along side and with a panicked look on his face and pointing his finger at the back of my bike i figured out why my leg was getting warm
i pulled over and ruined a nice set of gloves trying to put it out luckily a guy on his harley passed and pulled over and his hot blond passenger came to my rescue with her bottle of Poland springs water lol after that no more carbon fiber cans for me

I will see

Slykitty, I will get myself a bottle of Poland springs for safety plus the extreme heat from running 180 mph may have played a part in that. I will never sit on that thing at 150 so 180 is out of the question. Yeah i'm a pussy
but at those speeds I am not comfortable.

Yeah I forgot all about D&D. My buddy has a carbon can D&D on his 929 and it sounds like a beast. Nice and deep a idle too.

Gees... What a waste of fantastic silencer... !!. Buy another shorty with the same diameter fitment ... easier..!!lol.

Akra IMO are one of (if not the) best pieces of kit for a 12r and buy Cutting it up it will alter the running of your bike.

Too late

Well it's too late now, I've already took the stuffing out but will not cut it.
It sounds great IMHO, I onlt road it for about 30 minutes and it took longer to start in the begining and I had to bump the idle up but later put it back and it was okay. Don't think I would have done it if I had known about the
fire hazzard. Well It's done now. That reminds me, I need a new rear tire
just noticed the threads showing.

Thanks
Jeff

Brock also sells his version of this system and you can buy it with a Meg to begin with!

I've always felt the Akrapovic was a nice compromise.

It barks nicely when you get on it but is tolerable when you are just cruising. Too much continuous noise fatigues me and as I always say "The louder the pipe the more warning the cop has that you are coming!". :-)

Totally Agreed about NOISE! I have the Brock Meg on my ZRX and Now I have his Noise reducer Plug coming! Like you say, the Police can also hear when you are on the Gas!
