| ugh, flywheel problems. anyone have the tool for that rotor?
well, i just got a new rectifier/ regulator and put it on my bike after waiting two weeks to get it with ronayers.com. My battery still isn't charging correctly. i'm just not getting enough output. Went to the local kawi dealer and was looking at their service manuals for info. Well i checked the ohms on the stator and they all seem to be good at .3 ohms the local O'reillys checked my Battery on the bike and it said it was bad. Took it off the bike and checked it again then it says it's good. But when cranking the bike up the volts go from 12.4 down to 3V or 1V. So i connected a new sealed battery onto it, it still wouldn't charge more than 12.6V but when cranking the bike up and putting a load on the new one, it doesn't drop but .10 or something. I didn't buy the new battery yet. It seems to hold a charge, so i'm holding off on that. i think it's just i'm not getting enough output at 4,000 rpms AC they are only around 45V, 50V and 60V. when they should be around 85-120V so, i'm thinking it's the flywheel. DAMN. i have no idea how to change that. I don't have the tool for it, so my bike will be down for another week or two. AM i right about this assumption? WIth everything i've read on this forum, most people have problems with rec/reg going out or the stator. Just my luck that the flywheel (which needs that special tool) is MY problem. DOES ANYONE have that special tool (flywheel/ rotor puller?) i could borrow or know how much one costs? cuz i doubt i'll use it more than once (knock on wood) after i do this. other than checking the alternator with my meter, should i open up the stator cover to check for anything before i order parts? The stator seems to check out fine, but i hate to order my flywheel and wait two weeks for it and then find out i should have ordered a stator as well. or any other parts. I'm just a little uneasy about this because i've never messed with this side of a bike before. I haven't read much about other zx12 flywheels going out, but just their stators burning up. I almost regret that i upgraded from my gsxr 600 to a kawi 12, no offense to anyone, i guess that happens when you buy used. I love this bike but it does me no good when it just sits in my garage waiting on repairs esp during riding season(i would have bought a harley if i wanted that) ![]() :-P

at 4,000 rpms AC i'm reading about 45V, 50V and 60V. when they should be around 85-120V. Stator reads .3ohms on every lead.
