Its been a long time...

I've been pretty busy the last couple of years and haven't had a chance to do much and that includes riding. In addition, I had a bitch of an electrical problem and it drove me nuts trying to find out what was wrong and the bike was down until I figured it out. I was wondering who's still here?

Things have slowed down for me now and I had the time to devote to figuring out what was wrong. I finally figured out the electrical problem and it was something very simple like it always is with something like that, a pinched wire. Fixed it and the beast is back on the road. After not riding it for a long time, I forgot what a monster this thing is.

I had a problem with the heat from the stroker motor in the hot climate here in Florida also. The stroker just ran to hot to be able to ride it on hot days or in any kind of traffic. I bought some heavy duty header wrap and wrapped the headers from the top all the way back to the end of the collector. It was amazing the difference it made with the heat. The bike never gets hot any more, even in stop and go traffic. Huge difference.

I have a question maybe someone can help me out with. It looks like I will me moving soon and I have a job prospect in Boston. If I get the job and move to Boston, will I have problems with getting it inspected with the aftermarket headers? Its my understanding that they don't test emissions on motorcycles but they do inspect the exhaust and test for noise. It may or may not pass the noise test but it is definitely not a stock exhaust. If its just a noise issue, I think I can get a different can that will pass although I don't think my bike is as loud as many stock Harleys out there. Any comments?

Other than that, just wanted to say high to some of those guys out there that I haven't talked to in a long while. I did notice Jere is still hanging around...How are you Jere, still in AZ? Still got those bad ass off road vehicles in the garage? Hope you are well.

Welcome back, workman!! Some of us are still around!!

I lived in MA about a million years ago, & I remember that some bike shops did inspections... My recommendation is to find one of those, as they're more likely to "understand" the situation with aftermarket exhausts, etc... (Might not hurt if you do some shopping in their showroom & buy a hat or something while you're waiting, either!!)

BTW - Do a double-check on the cost of living between Dustin & Boston... It's a different world up there!!

Good to see ya postin' again!!

is this the pilot jet mod guy?? (ive only been "around" for a couple yrs)
stroker... 1361? 1375? bigger?
header wrap is great stuff! i have part of my pipe wrapped by the oil pan(custom pan very close to the pipe), and where my boot hits it every now and then. the wrap is supposed to lower heat transfer by a few hundred degrees i believe. you can definately feel the diff

Its good to hear from you guys again. Man its been a crazy couple of year for me and time just got away from me. Brings back memories reading some of the post here. I'll glad I finally figured out my electrical problem and back on the road again. What a pain in the ass that was and such a simple thing too.

Thanks for the info on Boston. I don't even know if I'm going to get the job but I'm just figuring out what to do about the bike. I was looking at another job in California and I know for certain there is no way in hell I could ever get the bike registered there. It would be a shame to have to sell it.

Anybody come up with any trick new mods that i can't live without? I did do something new to my bike that a few of you may be interested in. After buiding the stroker and riding it around, I found out that the stock battery is marginal at best when trying to start the beast. The increased compression makes the starter pull more juice and the parts are ever tighter when trying to start the bike when its hot. I carved up the stock battery tray and shoe-horned a monster battery into the space. I don't have the numbers handy right now but the bigger battery has significantly more CCAs. Makes a huge difference when trying to start it, especially when hot. If anyone has a piston kit or a stroker and having starting problems, this will take care of it.

Anyway, good to here from you guys and I will definitely start lurking around again.
