| sprocket/chain help
ok im lowering my gears to a 17/47 and i need to know how long of a chain i need. plz help

you should be fine with a stock length chain, but it will be pulled up to the front of the adjustment range. i think that its when you go to a 48 rear that you need a couple links added.

i had 17/48 with stock chain but it was 20? k km so maybe stretched.when i changed to 18/48 i dremmelled 5mm approx from swingarm axle slot

17/47 gearing fits the OEM chain.; the wheelbase is slightly shorter.

OEM chain length is 116 links. That should be fine for you. Most chains are 120 links so you will have some left over. The better chains usually include a rivet link, the cheaper ones sometimes don't so if you're not sure make sure you ask. If you get an OEM "endless" replacement one 116 link if you're willing to remove the swingarm you should be able to mount it up with no cutting...kinda a pain. A. | |
