Hybrid Gauges. Sort Of.

A few months ago I came across a set of damaged 02 gauges for cheap, well free actually. The LCD screen and plastic cover were fubar but the rest was good including the fake carbon fiber piece. After a minor amount fiddling it didn't take long to figure out by ordering the top plastic cover that the fake carbon fiber piece will fit the 00-01 gauges. So I ordered the 02 piece from www.ronayers.com for 30 bucks, put it together and fits perfectly. No big deal just something to make my bike different from the rest.

One of the site advertisers sells those inserts for the guages. One of the selling points is the color you can get and the 220mph speedo that only comes on the 00 models. You're correct in saying that only the '02+ models come with the faux carbon fiber around the gauges. My '01 did not have that but my '03 does.

gauges

i have these also on my 00 zx12r and the light does not filter through these gauges like factory does. meaning you cant see the #'s when lit up at night or in the dark.

I doubt you have a set of these. The company I got these from went out of business shortly after I got them. My set was the first set he did. I had to send in my stock faces for him to use a pattern. The backlight shows through fairly well on these, not as good as stock, but good enough...

guages

I may have damaged a bulb while attempting to remove the needles and guages to put the new gauge faces on. The needles light up fine but the numbers on the guages dont
