zx11 discomfort

Just bought a zx11 that required a three hour highway ride home and I gotta say it was a really long three hours. The strain on the wrists was bad. I am 45 but in awesome condition and ride my other bike (1200 Goldwing ) frequently. Do the bar risers make that much of a difference? Also I think there is a period of adjusting. Anyone experience the same?

Are you a big (tall) guy?
Barbarian-CBX rides a zx-12 and a Wang also, maybe he can offer some insight.

Hey sorry for the delay in response. No, I am not tall. I am 5'9'' so I guess part of the issue might be the stretch seat to bars.

I'm about the same age, but a little taller so I'd imagine it is that extra stretch to the bars that's causing you grief as I've travelled 100s of 1000s of miles on my 11s and have never suffered from this particlar complaint.

I've heard from people who've fitted bar risers and it does most certainly help them so yes, they'd definitely be worth a try.

GenMar makes one and a quarter inch risers for about $110.00. They require no modifications to the controls and should make a noticable difference. I was over 60 yrs. old when I had my c model and was fairly comfortable without risers, although I was never very limber. Maybe you just weren't going fast enough to have the air blast support your upper body? Comfort begins after 70 mph!

Bar risers do make a difference! They bring the clip ons up and back slightly which helps those of us who suffer from low back pain and/or are inseam challenged.

Jump on my R1 for an hour and you'll realize how petty your complaint truly is, LOL.

I have an 11 and am about the same height as you. I am also in decent shape. Just bought it and haven't been on a long ride yet, but if I have the same problem maybe we can find a solution together. Keep me posted and I will do the same.
