Relay assembly keeps blowing

My 06 10 has a electrical issue traced the problem back to the relay assembly not working. I found this because I had no power to the headlights. And continuous power to the starter. When I replaced the relay it worked fine for a little while then went out again. Now when I purchased the bike about 2 months ago the guy told me that the shop replaced the stator and battery and when he was riding home he noticed the starter was staying ingadged and wining while bike is on. What on the stator would cause the relay to blow? Seeing how that was the last thing that was replaced before issue I'm thinking to start there. Any help would be appreciated.

Just guessing here but a short in the start button wiring loom.

For Tech Questions Bike Model letters are more useful than saying the year, for uk owners anyway, as registration year is not always year of manufacturer model.

I'll double check the starter button.

Checked the starter button and it seems to be working fine. I even pulled the idler gear off and pushed the button several times to make sure the starter starts and stop. Is there anything on the stator that could cause the relay to blow?

Just guessing here again as I've not looked at the relay box wiring for some time, but if one of the diodes inside has shorted then this might keep your starter engaged once the engine is running.

It will be the headlights on yellow wire from the stator to the headlight relay in the relay box.
