Kawasaki KRR ZX150
Hullo, I'm new. I was wondering...have any of you guys heard of the Kawasaki ZX150 or the Kawasaki Superkips as its called here in Malaysia. KIPS meaning Kawasaki Intergrated Power Valve System. Its a 150cc bike 2-stroke Ninja. I recently purchased this bike and wanted to know its downsides and upsides.
I'm kinda new to street bikes, and would like some help concerning the bike. Like parts and such. Searching for them online is quite the hassle.

I like this bike!!
It's not available here in the U.S., though, so I can't get much info on it...
Found this: http://duniamoto.com/permotoran/revi...krr-zx150.html ...Good luck with the translation, but the specs & pictures speak for themselves...

Yeah, I've found just as much info concerning the bike. I denno why its so hard to look up info on this bike. I guess about the only thing I can do is go to dealers to ask about mods and so on. I'll post a pic of me bike when I get back to Kuala Lumpur. I wanted to change the exhaust but I ain't sure what to buy and where to buy.
I went to one shop and they said I'd have to change the whole exhaust system and that there was no slip on for the bike. Strangely enough, this bike has been around for quite awhile and availability of parts is not in the upstream.
Its a nimble 2-stroke with some decent torque. Its a shame its only sold in this part of the world.

Well, Zen - First, please let me say WELCOME here!!
Here's an idea, if you're interested... If you willing to collect and post-up all the information you can find on the ZX150, I can make sure (I've got some pull around here ) that we give some attention to this motorcycle!!
Several of us here enjoy 2-stroke bikes, & are trying to get up-to-date information on them... The problem is that here in the U.S., these bikes are becoming very rare...
Many of us would LOVE to have a ZX150 to ride here... That thing looks like FUN!!
BTW - The bike in the picture I posted has an aftermarket exhaust (expansion chamber & silencer combo), so there's parts out there!!
BTW2 - What do you do in Kuala Lumpur??

Fun isn't the half of what I can describe about this bike. Hahaha. Sure, I'll do what I can and thanks for the welcome.
I went to the shop where I bought my bike and I asked around about increasing its torque and acceleration. I found out that you have to change the whole exhaust system due to the fact that the original exhaust system itself is full of crap limiting power output and cuttin the acceleration. Right now I can only get the bike to go at about 160 kmph. I've heard in and around town that it can go up to about 210kmph.
However, I don't know much about bikes so I can't really comment there. I still lost on names of parts.
As for what I do in KL, I'm a student. Taking degree in architecture at a local Uni. And I prefer bikes to cars due to low fuel consumption, maneuverability, and of course easy parking. Rains a drag here though. It rains every other day in KL but when its dry out and sunny, there's nothing like rippin it out on the highway.

Ninja KRR ZX150 in Indonesia
yes before 2008 this KRR only sale in thailand & indonesia, i dont know when it sale in malaysia. but now it sell also to international, you can find the profile here:
after 1996' there are so many club n community for this bike in indonesia. the machine in 2002 has equipped with HSAS and SuperKIPS technology to control emission and gain power for top speed.
on may 2009 at the One Make Race kawasaki 150-250cc class series 2 (FFA), the KRR ZX150 rules the race with podium 1, 2 & 3 leaving the Ninja 250R (4 strokes) 19.317 seconds behind. you can find the article here:
Kejurnas Motosportz kelas FFA 250,… 2 Strokerz ngamuuuk… !!! Rudi Triatmono Personal Blogs
yes the power of KRR ZX150 is better than Ninja 250R, on that race all team are only allowed to change the exhaust, cdi, and some racing part. It seems this 2 strokes bike come back to surface again for it name after emission regulation issue.
on manufacturer standard, Ninja KRR ZX150 can touch 190 to 200 km/h, and Ninja 250 R can touch 160-170 km/h.
For the 'local' bike in indonesia the Ninja KRR is the fastest daily lite weight bike ever.

Ninja KRR ZX150 in Indonesia
i'm sorry, for my correction, the link for KRR 150 sale on international is only cbu for outside south east asian (the link is malaysian official kawi). and the regional country such indonesia and malaysia sale it by ckd and/or cbu imported from thailand.
And for the machine equipped with HSAS n SuperKIPS are in 2004.
The Ninja 250 R take 4th place in OMR Kawasaki 250cc class.

dannyaditya - Welcome here!!
I hope you find information that can help you here... Being from North America, I have never seen one of the Ninjas you ride... Looks like great fun!!

Danny: Ey, thanks for the info. Yeah... I know about as much. My KRR is pretty decent. I was just hoping to mod the bike. Its just past its 1500km mark and first service. I was hoping to mod the exhaust.
Go 200: The only Ninja here thats not available in most parts of the world would be the ZX150. I checked...scoured the net for weeks on end doing research on bike's before purchasing this one. Hell, I'm just a student and I've yet to learn and willing to learn more about bikes.
For a 2 stroker, I really like my bike. Just want it to accelerate FASTER :D In KL I ride this bike. In my hometown, I'm riding a chopper. So, the difference in riding is quite apparent. Probably gonna get myself a ZX6 as a second bike.

used to ride aprillia rs250.
where did you get your bike?
if i'm not wrong full system PDK is around MYR1.3k ... cheaper one would be AHM, not sure the price. If you're lucky you can find shops that sell used ones.
But for me upgrades is not that necessary, the bike is fast enough, unless you have ship load of money to spend. Mine goes to 160 with no effort, can reach 200kph but I think the speedo is not that accurate, probably running around 160 ~ 180kph. Rev it high, you'll get there.
But who cares, most of the time you'll be the faster than any vehicle on the streets in KL streets. Malaysian superbikes are just way too everpriced (tax!), people only ride it on weekends. You might wanna go for singaporean bike, can sell it off when you graduate.
Ninja 250R got the look.
zx150 got the speed.

Welcome here, babyninja!! It seems that the KRR ZX150 has quite a following... I hope many of you can find community here...
As I stated above, the typical North American rider's knowledge of these bikes is necessarily limited, but they really look like they would be a hoot to ride!!
Each of you should pop over to the "General Discussion Forum" & post a "hello" post... We're a pretty friendly group here, but not all of our members frequent the 2-stroke section!!

I love my bike, without a doubt I do. However, I just require a lil extra acceleration. It feels as though something is hampering its full on kick to speed. Fastest I've gone on it is about 180kph. I live in Sunway so its pretty easy finding a highway to rip it on.
As for second-hand parts, where could I get them? I've only been able to find shops that sell exhaust systems for brand new.
Anyhoo, I agree that this bike is faster compared to the 250r. I dragged one by chance the other day on the highway and the dude didn't stand a chance.
It was a Blue ninja. Latest model I think. Plate was still new.

And yes... Bike's here are insanely over-priced. For example, a Harley from the U.S... say... a Sportster Nighster...Would cost about USD 4,000 (MYR 13,000 plus minus). Back here, that same Harley would fetch for MYR 80,000 (USD 25000). Talk about insane hike.
