do you think this was a top end or bottom end induced failure?
Thanks Scott.
I think it was maybe a rod/piston . On the bike there was no mechanical noise, it just locked going up gears. In video it almost sounds like clutch is slipping.Wont know till i get it back.

I dont know what bikes like yet. But the guy looking aftercit at the track said it didnt look too bad. He commented it was scratched down the plastics and that even the levers werent bust.
Im not expecting miracles
Apparently a big oil down :-)
Will know more when I collect, hopefully next week. It slid ftom just shortfof the 1/8 and almost made the 1/4 :-)

Reviewing the video in slomo it appears the motor lets go at moment of smoke and dumps oil straight onto track and rear tyre :-)

So I think probably a rods gone through the block / cases ! Boom!

Sucks to hear dave! Glad you are mostly OK. From what I've seen you have awesome determination for racing with the ZX12R so I have no doubt you'll get it back up running shortly!

Oil was exactly half up the window :-)
Then half up the track...
Motor was sounding good. No knocks or rattles.
Fresh oil.
Will hopefully know what let go next week :-)

THANKS :-)
If its not too bad it will be back :-)
Ive quite a lot of spares so im optimistic.
Im guessing the nose ,tail and lower sides will be battle scarred so I will probably replace with race panels. I will get my fibre glass out and make a new extended tail with seat. Wanted the Catalyst one but shipping kills it , so will be a challenge.
Havent done fibre glass since I made a one piece front for my 70 Transam pro street car many years' ago :-)
Think the motor will be a full rebuild :-)

not having much luck lately are u? hope u have a speedy recovery. i smashed my oilpan a few years ago nothing u can do like riding on ice.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!
