200 mph club!

I want to thank Redsled for letting me pilot his bike this wknd at Loring. I had an amazing time!!! we did a few mods to the bike (2000 ZX-12R), but its a bone stock motor, Yosh pipe, pc3, internet map +6% for MR 12. Lowered. BMC air filters. Bear short stacks, crank case vent mod. Foot shifting.

heres a pic of the owner who got a best of 190.3xx, he told me his goal was 180, so as you can see he was pretty happy

I did my rookie runs sat(on 87 octane), and then got a best of 188.9xx into a 10-15 mph head wind with a slight cross. I also took a first gen 14 with a Brocks pipe, pc, MR 12 and Brocks Maxton MR 12 map for a drive(stock ride height) and got a 187.xxx. I bumped the limiter a couple times trying to shift it like a 12, so i knew it had more in it.
this morning was calm conditions slight cross winds and I got a 196.2 on the regular gas, still practicing my tuck, and working on launching a bike thats about 12-13 in shorter than mine. learning little things on each run about body position and getting better at the shifts when in full tuck, and leaning into the cross winds. I took the 14 for another run and I believe that was a 195.xxx, the owner has the slips. gave him some tips on shifting and tuck and he picked up several mph. he graciously gave us some of his MR 12 and that seemed to be the edge i needed as i wasnt quite getting clean passes, little things i knew i had to improve on. tail winds picked up slightly as the day went on and I was getting a better feel for the bike, and the added kick of the 12 got me a 198.2. next run was a little cleaner again, less blowing around side to side on the track and was a 199.766, i knew it was just about there as the tach was getting closer and closer to the limiter as i crossed the line. the next run was the cleanest run of all with very minimal cross winds, and i knew it was on a pass when the needle was just about at the 12 when i crossed the finish line! 203.694, enough for the white hat. my face hurts from smiling cant wait to go back in July!

thx guys, yes my first time racing at lsr, i had to do the 125, 150, 175 runs before being allowed to go fast.
-1 rear and a 190 55 rear tire
196.3 in the mile, and 203.6 in the 1.5
i believe the bike has 27000 miles on it. Redsled will have to confirm that. its had the valves adjusted(reshimmed to factory clearance spec) once... it may be getting a little more this winter, ive put some very bad thoughts in his head

it was for the owner, but im sure there was more in it if i had a chance to get used to it. besides driving Shanes 14R around the pits those were the only 2 times ive driven a 14. awesome tq, but the pull in 6th isnt quite as good IMO. I really like the top of the tank having a place for my chin on the 14, Im not sure if i actually got lower or not, but it felt good

Big thanks to Scott and to Shane as well for the parts and the lsr tips. From the research I did for the last two years and with the info I got from you guys on here I knew it needed the right combo. Scott and Shane's help just put it over the edge. I really didnt think that bike would pull that hard. Im not gonna lie it scared the shit out of me. But if your not a little scared you should look at doing something else. On most of my runs I didnt tuck till the mile mark and then I would pick up 6 to 9 mph on the 1.5. I was also shifting at 10.5k rpm. Scott told me get in tuck after out of second and shift at 12k. I did that and picked up 5 mph. Last run was 10k first 12k with front up about a foot rode it out and 12k full tuck the rest of the way. Picked up 6mph for my 190.3. After my first pass I was thinking of stuff I owned that I could sell to buy some more of these 12r's. Bike has 24970 miles on it. -1 and a pp pure 190 55 tire. 2 qt of 0-30 maxima ultra and 2/3 a qt of 530rr. I thougt it had 27000 but I was looking at the trip meter that had 270 on it. I put around 3k miles a year on this bike in our too short of a riding season. If you can get to a lsr track; DO IT! Thanks again. Redsled.
