| aluminum sprocket nuts
anybody try them? I saw a set on ebay. they have steel inserts like a heli coil for threads, so just the outside is aluminum(and anodized any colour you want), but im sure they would be quite a bit lighter than the stockers, and waaay cheaper than TI. are they legal for drag racing? lsr? am i crazy for thinking about trying them(are they safe)?

Thought about them, same as ti rotor bolts, but for the $$$ I could make the bike faster in other ways. But it is a gain that is always there, even if you can't see it on a slip. A.

thx for the offer, but im spending money on cylinder head, chassis, and nitrous upgrades this winter(and then ill be broke again lol). when i do get rims, it will be either the 6.625CF rear and matching front (doubtful) or the 6.75 in Puima rear and matching front. the wider rear rims with a normal 190 tire gives way more contact area.

The inserts will keep the threads from wearing out. However, the inserts are still threaded into the aluminum nut. Meaning that the aluminum will have to withstand the force applied when you tighten it (and under power). I don't think these should be torqued anywhere near as tight as the steel parts. Ultimately you are loading the aluminum nut, not the steel coil insert. I would stay away from them, personally.

Shane, I have some extra leaded wheel weights if you wanted to tack em on all over your 14 wheels....maybe towards the top of your tail section? As far up and back as possible...you know, for stability ;-) Maybe it'll clean up the wake too! Thats what friends are for mang. A.
