Dragracing in the wet is interesting!

As some of you might know, there has been a grudge match between me and my brother. "Who has the faster bike, Who is the better rider" and all that crap! :P We decided to settle it on the strip a couple of years ago, but he had a minor loom issue the day before (it melted....) So, it has been building up for sometime, only to end yesterday. 8)

It didn't start well, it was hammering down with rain all morning.

But the event was still on, just limited to the 1/8th due to a very short run off area, and when we turned up they were racing in the wet! :? In for a penny, in for a pound, how hard can it be to drag a 177bhp stretched and lowered ZX12R in the rain?

Quite hard as it happens! My first, tried to launched softer, but like I would with a stock wheel base, major sideways slide, 1st, 2nd, third! Lost the first run to my brother as he launched much softer. One of the marshals came over to tell me to "Tone it down"

From then on in it got more competitive. Grip was defininately the issue of the day, and the launch with no spin romped home with win. You couldn't used full throttle in any gear. As the day went on, dry lines started to appear and the times for both of us started to drop. We started in the mid 7's and by the end of the day, we were running 6's consistently. 4 runs from the end of the day, 2 things happened. My brother went to fill up his air shifter and discovered a cracked sub-frame.   His dragracing day was over.

The second thing was that a marshal came over to tell me I had the fastest run of the day (6.53s @ 116mph) and could I come over and run against the second fastest? :P :P :P Sorta rubbed salt in my brother wounds! :)

Turns out second fastest was a stretched and lowed ZX10R with an airshifter (I've got a quickshifter). That thing was quick! Kudos to the 10. But the 12 did not let me down, and ran twice, beating him both times (barely though) 6.58 to his 6.56 on the last run!

Between me and my bro, he agrees, best bike of the day won. But it was close, 7 to 5 wins. :D But it ain't over, we are already planning stage 2, which will be at Santa Pod, running on rubber and much better conditions!

I love my 12. Show me another bike that can do 45000 miles with no issues, get dragraced , do trackdays, and ridden everyday, and still starts first time.
