Auto Shift ZX 12

I have a zx 12 with a Muzzy air shifter with the digi kill , I also have a Dyna shift minder with shift light . What I would like to do is hook the shift minder up to the air shifter so at a set rpm ,instead of the shift light going on , the signal is sent to the air shifter . Dyna literature say it can be done . But muzzys say one is a neg. ground an the other is a pos. ground , can it be done . Also I would like input as to weather this would be a good set up or not, pros an cons. This is a stock 12 other than Hindle pipe, filters , PC3 , Muzzy clutch ,lowering links an ext about 4 in. over , Shinko 003 an the above shifter . Best run to date is 9.34 @ 146.899 mph 1.489 60 foot , 4.174 330, 6.038 1/8 @ 120.439 mph with 16 - 46 gearing ( I have sence changed to 16 - 48 ) yet to run it with new gearing . I would also like to know what you all thing about the Wide Band Commander ?, an NOS whats the better system wet or dry ? Tips on setting up rear suspenion are welcome , Iam 150 lbs. Thanks Don

if so you need a relay. send postitive to relay which turns ground sent to switching valve. understand ?

I know Auto SHifters are illegal in our series so check before you do that if you race. I know there is a way to take the line from the Dyna Minder and SHift light and wire that to the shifter button. So what you are doing is energizing the line by the shift light instead of the button.
Or just upgrade your MPS box to one wiht an auto shifter.

You can send them your box or just do like most people do. But they new box and then just sell yours. Thats the easiest way. I think you only save $40 or so by sending them your old kill box.

Autoshifters are pretty much race only (and like he said, not legal in some classes).. the ones I've seen you can pull out the rpm chip and shift with the button.
yeah, I don't really race any "classes". I'm setting the bike up for a fairly large shot of spray and having the autoshift, at least all I have to do is hold on and ride.

There are plenty of them out there in use and they work fine. I know this for fact. BUT dont use a 12K chip. You will run into the rev limiter esp with NOS. USe a 11,250 or 11,5 chip. Good luck.

I disagree. 90% of the boxes out there on nOS are MPS boxes. Its the same kill box just wiht the shifter option. You can use it. Its been tried and true for years.

thats what i thought. right now i have the mps fast fi box, air shifter, and dry nitrous kit. i hope the autoshift works like it's supposed to. thanks for your help!

That Fast FI box aka Instant Rich box comes in real handy with NOS. No changing the maps!! Awesome boxes.

That Fast FI box aka Instant Rich box comes in real handy with NOS. No changing the maps!! Awesome boxes.
yeah - I'm off to the dyno to get it mapped in a couple of weeks. The only thing that scares me about the instant rich box is that on the 12 it throws the injectors wide open. I saw where Ryan Schnitz said that the injectors flowed so much gas that you had to run a BIG shot of N2O to make it even out (a/f wise). I've already upgraded the fuel pump, I guess the dyno will tell the true story.

I dont know if that is the case. Let me investigate that. I am sure that is not the case. I have a A/F ratio gague and it was normal.

i've pretty much got the same setup - minus the lockup & progressive controller, & retard box. so with the 50 shot & fast fi box - your a/f was ok? are you running aftermarket pump?

A/F was fine. Right now it has a stock pump but there is a new Muzzy sitting on the ground to go in it. We had to pull the motor back apart due to a lil head malfunction so I figured seeing we have to re Dyno the bike might as well add the Muzzy pump while we are at it. YOU MUST dyno the bike witht he stronger pump.

yeah - i read where you dropped a valve. that sucks. my bike did that also last year. It's going on the dyno in April - i upgraded the pump with a walbro (same as Muzzys) - i figure the a/f will be fine after the dyno tune. i would like to run a 50-60 shot of juice with the fast fi box. i think it should be fine - the dyno will tell all.

I would think so, just hook up in front of the PC ?
The fast fi box comes with a box that when you want to arm the nitrous, you flip the switch on the box - it becomes instant rich for the nitrous. Really neat box.

DJ, you were running 50shot with the stock 00 pump?
