Looks like a lot of fun! Is it really a lot smoother (less vibey, I think is the words you would use) than the KTM?
I pulled my KTM 625 SMC out last weekend and rode around a little last weekend - bike is a blast as long as your wide open on the throttle! Otherwise, it really is an uncomfortable "vibey" commuter bike. Just not real smooth.
Have fun with the new toy!
You can see from my avatar that i had essentially the same bike as a 625, the lc4 uses the same engine in both the 625 and the 640.
Vinnie it is a huge difference in comfort of ride and my 640 was running really well when i sold it. I liked the lc4 for most of my riding, but I have never owned a bike that made my hands go numb like the lc4 did when on the street. The seat on my atk isnt great and right now Im using my airhawk, but I will try and rebuild the seat on the atk myself.
The other issue between the ATK and the KTM is as you say you have to be into the rpms of the ktm to make it fly. That is fine for racing but not for dual sport riding. The ATK is much like an XR650R and makes a lot of low rpm torque which suits my riding style better than the KTM did.
