Need some nitrous advice...

Next thing i want to do is nitrous...i want a dry shot system really cause i dont need that much more horsepower right now...was looking at muzzys system, anyone have much experience with that? What other options do i have for dry shot systems? I also was curious about a purge kit...its always a good idea to have one while running nitrous, no matter how short or long the lines are in my previous experience...so would it be possible to easily install a purge kit to the muzzy dry kit or any other kit? Thanks for your help

I wouldn't waste $ on the purge kit. I have

the full muzzy

pc3r w/more fuel added and up to 3 degrees of timing taken out

w/a 40 shot--I have it split so it hits 20 x 2, 20 per ram air basically so all 4 cylinders get a "better" burn.

Colder plugs

BMC race filter

NO PROBLEMS @ ALL!

I have an 00, most say sooner or later you need to upgrade the clutch but I've done some land speed and drag runs and I'm ok so far....will get it done soon.

A purge is most useful for bleeding off excessive nitrous pressure when doing a wet shot. For instance, if your fuel jet is matched to a corresponding nitrous jet at 900psi and your bottle is reading 1000psi, you would want to bleed off 100psi for optimal mix. In the case of a smallish dry shot, it just doesn't matter. Although if you're competing, you'll want to keep your pressures consistent so you'll have consistent performance. In that case it might be beneficial, though you didn't say that was your goal.

There are LOTS of options for dry shots. On the generic end you have NOS, NX, Dynotune, Cold Fusion, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. Here's a DIY step-by-step:
http://www.zx-12r.org/Motorcycle_inf...RNosSystem.htm

On my 12, I rolled my own out of NX parts. On my 14, I'm using a HighPower kit from www.racetested.com .

You'll probably want to add a little fuel, either by a resistor mod or PowerCommander, though a 40 horse shot or less will be fine for shortish bursts stock. Take out 2 degrees of timing for every 50HP you shoot. Non-platinum plugs, one heat range colder are recommended (and cheaper than stock!).

Good luck. It's a lot of fun. Lotsa help from lotsa people here, so don't hesitate to ask.

The muzzy system looks good only because of its injection design, over all 4 throttlebodies, any experience with that compared with injectors into the airbox or ram air system?

You mean dry vs wet? Dry shoots @ the airbox, wet shoots nitrous and fuel together....

Wet is "safer" if you want 60-80 hp on stock motor but for small amounts of nitrous dry is fine and cheaper. Just use a power commander to dial in extra fuel and take out some timing if need be.

I know wet/dry systems, im a tech at porsche and i have alot of experience with performance products as well, just no so much as on a bike.

The muzzys dry system injects directly over the throttle bodies though, unlike the other dry systems that inject just into the airbox, leaving the nitrous to go into whatever throttle bodies it wants, alot more could go into cylnder #1 than #3 ya know what i mean? A perfect ballance would maintain the best power.

Heres part of the description for the dry muzzys kit

This kit offers a simple, easy to install yet very effective nitrous option for the ZX-12R owner and provides a quick and reliable 40hp increase. Unlike other dry kits that simply spray nitrous into a single point in the intake tract, the Muzzys system sprays directly over the inlet stacks through precision drilled orifices in stainless steel runners.

So that would be the difference between that and just one jet into the airbox

Just making sure....

I see what you're saying. Skinart in Canada hooked me up w/my Cold Fusion set-up but recommended getting a splitter...kind of in between a single and the 4 you are mentioning.

Mine splits into 2 lines (so 20 shot by 2) and taps in to each side of the ram air, the theory being it offers a better balance of nitrous for all the cylinders. If it just comes down 1 side, as you implied cyl 1 may get more nitrous than cyl 3. At least the way I'm running it, cyl 1 + 2 should be = to cyl 3 and 4. But I can't 100% say that cyl 1 and 2 are getting the exact same amount.

I have it set-up conservative though so I sleep @ night

NOS

I GOT MY SET UP FROM RYAN AT SCHNITZ RACING AND PLACED THE NOZZLE IN FRONT OF THE AIRBOX IN THE CENTER, IN FRONT OF THE AIR FILTERS, IT AIMS STRAIGHT DOWN AND THEN GOES THRU THE FILTERS. RYAN SAID IT CAUSES BETTER ATOMIZATION ( IS THAT A WORD ) AND INCREASED HP. I INSTALLED A EFIR-12 IGNITION RETARD UNIT AND TOOK OUT 2 DEGREES WITH AN INSTANT RAMP ( MEANING HOW FAST IT TAKES IGNITION OUT ) MAPPED IT FOR THE SPRAY AND I GOT ALMOST 75 HP OUT OF A 34 NOZZLE. IF YOU CALL SCHNITZ AND TALK TO NICK HE CAN TELL YOU EVERY THING YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW TO GET WHAT YOU WANT FROM NOS. THE NUMBER IS 800-837-9730. HOPE I HELPED

NOS

I PULL 185 ON MOTOR AND JUST UNDER 260 ON SPRAY. I KNOW MY MATH IS BAD BUT I THINK THATS 75.
NOW THE WEATHER DOES PLAY A FACTOR BUT WHEN MY MOTOR PULLS LOW THE SPRAY PULSS LOW AS WELL SO IT'S STILL THE SAME.

I spray both shots in front of air filters against the ram air so it parachutes and spreads before going thru the filters....

NO NEED TO PUGE A DRY SHOT... Other than to show off...
