I hope you enjoy it. That might be my quest someday.
Did you build the motor or have it done by a shop?

Man I'm glad to hear you are enjoying that BIG BORE :) I'm suppose to pickup the BIGG12 this friday :D :D :D after two and a half months of waiting for my 1290 kit, head porting and a few other odds and ends installation. Can't hardly wait until Friday! :D :D :D . Good lucky with the 1270 and ride safe, will keep anyone post on the 1290. I will still have to carry the BIGG12 some where to have her tune with a custom map. Lets kick some Busas' tales :) :) :)

That is the sad part, they find out you have a 1270 or 1290 12R and they whine that you are cheating. Hell, you are just evening out the playing field :D To bad a 1270 12R motor spanks a 1299 Busa motor.

Well Took Her Out On friday for a few test runs. She Ran 203 mph on motor!!! Not too bad I thought>Saturday Went for the proper map.Only 185 hp WTF !!!!!!!!! Started checking And found The fuel pressure drops off dramatically at 10.000 rpm NOT GOOD Killing 10 20 hp And motor Is leaning Out At WOT. Im lucky I didnt Burn Up the motor On that 203 mph pass But The Good news Is With A Good Pump She Will go even faster Thats right 203 mph With 185 hp. Imagine what she will do with 300 hp Im looking for that 218 mph record. I might pull It Off

You should get an upgraded fuel pump. Apparently the stock pump is only good for about 180 HP. I was told things could run lean because of the duty cycle of the stock pump. Hate to see you blow up your brand new 1270 because of something dumb and relatively inexpensive. I ordered mine from Spencers for 189.00

I don't understand how they could have the nerve to charge you $500. It ain't like Muzzy's price is secret:

http://www.muzzys.com/MZFP-K12/index.html

There's an article in Schnitz's tech corner by Doug Meyer on the inadequacies of the stock A-model pump.

What about the 02 model 12's the B models, does it needed the fuel pump upgrade after going to the Big Bore(1290 kit). My bike is starving for fuel down low :( :( , try to put enough miles on it to have it tuned on a dyno.

B-model pumps are supposed to be better, but I don't know specifics on how much HP they'll support. In my conversation w/ Muzzy's, they said that a healthy B-model pump will support a 1270/1290. If it's hurting down low, a dyno/sniffer map should cure it.

Just to clear the air.... I weigh 230lb's and Al weighs 150lb's.... that's 80 pound difference in weight. On top of that.. I wasn't spraying a 40 shot... the PSI in the bottle was at like 600psi... so it was maybe a 25 shot.

And he only pulled on me in 1st gear... once we got into 2nd and I got on the juice... I held him dead even.

I'm sure if we swapped bikes he'd RUN away from me with the juice.

Either way, the bike made 196rwhp with the new fuel pump... that's kick ass being that the compression ratio is only at 13.0:1!!!

13:1

 Phantom did you say 13:1? And was that the 1270 or 1290?
I'm wanting to get around 200rwhp but on a very reliable engine. My dad and I got into this big discusion about the 13.5:1 compression ratio being too high. He said that would be good iif it was a track only bike. He said a 12.5:1 or a 13:1 would be much better. What is te difference in hp between the 12.5:1, 13:1, and the 13.5:1 in rwhp when it comes to the 1270 or 1290 kit?

Higher compression = more power.... and more heat

The Muzzy 1270 pistons come with a 13.5:1 compression ratio... which is about as high as you'd want it to be on a STREETBIKE.... Alcindus used a thicker gasket to lower the compression for the Nitrous.

At 13.5:1 Al's bike would have made 200+rwhp easy.... but it wouldn't be able to handle much Nitrous for a long duration...which is what his application is set up for.

The 13.5:1 is very streetable... It's when you get into the 14:1 that you're going to run into reliability issues..

Also, if you want 200rwhp SAE out of a ZX12R... you're going to need that 1270 kit + Muzzy cams + oversized valve job + headwork + TB overbore + lighten/balanced rods and pistons + all the usual bolt-on's like full exhaust, air filters, pc3usb, etc...

Then you're going to want an undercut tranny so that you are not popping out of gear here and there due to the power.

So you're looking at quite a hefty bill at the end of the day.....

I don't even want to repeat what Alcindus' bill was after he had all of the above done to his 12R.

i know this is like 2 months old, but i'm a new member browsing the forums, and got really curious as to what it ran. By the way, i'm considering getting rid of my R1 for a 12R. The more threads i read here, the more convinced i get about getting the 12.
