Build Beyond Budget

Well everyone, I went and got one!

A brand new left over stock 2015 H2!

Picked it up 2 days ago, only ridden it on the first day due to heavy rain, but did 66kms/41mls on it (long way home!).

Bog stock standard, it rides with a very solid planted feel from the front, I think in part to do with good suspension and the weight of it. I have yet to dial in the suspension but not bad so far, certainly not a zx10r in handling but I actually like it as it reminds me of the 12, but better.

Riding it, the pick up is great as expected, there has been a lot of negative talk on some H2 forums regarding the snatchy ride by wire throttle, but so far I don't find it too bad, probably due to having ridden the A1 12 for so many years!

The paint job is amazing, especially in the sunlight, and I will be getting a full paint protection cover (xpel) in the very near future. I've just fitted an Evotech radiator guard and tail tidy, and put on the Akrapovic carbon slip on muffler supplied as part of the sales package - interesting bent banana design but not too fussed as already ordered a TT3 H2R replica exhaust that comes with DNA air filter and OEM copper header washers as part of the package. The dealer I got the bike through does Woolich tuning and will get this done after the 1000km service or thereabouts, just after I fit the TT3 exhaust - will leave it as is till then to break in the rider (me!) not so much the bike!

I'm not posting pics just yet till I get it sorted, most have already seen a stock H2 anyway.

And yes, it was bloody expensive, but I have done this as the ultimate present to myself and VERY likely the last new bike I will ever get.

The 12 is staying.....

I have actually thought of that! Seeing as I have had the work done on it. I will initially use it on the road and see how much use it does get. I'm planning on using it to ride over to Phillip Island for the 2 day track ride, and have the H2 trailered over with my son driving the car with a mate. Then I will ride the 12 back again (1800km round trip).

If I do end up using the 12 off the road it will be as a dedicated track bike - then I can take off all unnecessary items to lighten it up etc. I really enjoyed it on the track last year after the 1287 build!

Yep it's certainly grin inducing!

I also like the idea that I now have the first of two model Kawasakis - the first A1 zx12r and now the first Ninja H2, they look happy in the garage!

Connman, I have just recently had the bike ecu flashed with Woolich tuning software by the shop H2 mechanic who does all the H2 servicing in South Aust. He has deresticted a few things including the speedo that can now read over 300kms/187mls. Also given it 100% throttle for all gears as the H2 stock ecu map cuts the fuelling down to just over 30% when near peak revs! He also fitted a woolich cable to the ecu that tracks to under the seat for easier reflashing if/as necessary.

Went for a ride yesterday through the hills to try and get used to the throttle action, which is very on/off at low revs even after the flash, will get the mechanic to re do the low rev fuelling so it can cruise better through towns etc.

I'm VERY happy with this bike, cannot wait till Phillip Island track day in November. I have the TT3 full exhaust which is a H2R replica but a bit shorter, similar to the local Vandemon exhaust which is more of an exact replica. Also DNA filter.

Have to get a new rear tyre - stock is the Bridgestone RS10 which is near enough a track tyre - done just over 2000kms (1200mls?).

Will sort out some pics soon,
