Does anyone own KLX650? Can you share some info on it? Will it be a good Dual sport bike? I know KLX bikes are much stronger than KLR....seen quite a bit of KLX300 but not much of KLX650....wondering why? :headscratch:

I used to own a KLX-650 dual sport '94-'98. What a torque monster. Good for roads and wide trails. Kind of heavy for the serious off-road riding and the electric start only let me down once in the middle of no where while trail riding. Conditions have to be pretty dry to push shart the big piston. Actually, I'm looking for another one the past few days.

Ive got a 1996 650R. what a blast !!!!. At 100 kg's Im reasonably heavy so this bike suits me well, heaps of grunt and I have no problems moving it around ( within reason). I occasionally ride it to work which is about 100km round trip which is ok if you can handle the vibration. We have a great Kwaka dealer where I live who has given me some great tips with regards to maintaining the ol thumper. As long as you keep up the preventative maintenance you shouldnt have any problems. Great old bike !!!!

I've got a 95 650C with a little over 44,000 miles on it. 28,000 after rebuilding the top end courtesy of two failed OEM cam chain tensioners ruining the cam chains. That's the only really weak link, as you might guess by my mileage. The bike is great if you either do a lot of road riding as well as dirt/gravel roads. In the east here it's a bit big for a smaller rider like me when in the tight woods trails we have. Seems really popular in areas where the riding is a bit more open with fire roads and such.

Fact is I make and sell the tensioners now due to demand and the fact that no one else lists them for the KLX and a number of other models like the Zephyr that I also have. I am a moderator at the Yahoo KLX650 group and I invite you over if you've not been there yet.
