Isle of Man TT Experience?

Ok, this may not happen for a while, but has always been a dream of mine to attend an IOM TT to see all the madness!

What I'm after is if anyone has been there, especially from Aus., and how did you go about booking flights/sea travel, island accommodation etc., and what would be your best sight seeing suggestions etc.? Did you take your own bike or can you hire one on the island (or England/Ireland).

I've looked online at some sights offering packages that come with their own list of testimonials from people, but I usually treat them as a bit suspect as you can't tell if they are put on there by the company themselves!

This, to me, would be the "Holy Grail" of motorcycling experiences, even if it is just watching others go mental on the road!

All input of experiences eagerly accepted - good or bad!!

Don.

Steve, I could only imagine the logistics of transporting own bike would be a nightmare!

I have read somewhere that bikes can be hired, but it would be nice to ride the 12 on the course on one of those "open" days!!

Hi mate , I know a friend that did it . There were a few guys involved , they all chipped in and bought a van then sold it for the same money when it was over . One of them had a mate that lived in the UK and borrowed his bike . For the money to send your bike over and back you would be best off buying one in the UK and sell it when you have finished with it .

Great idea with the mates all going in and buying a van!

Also buying a good but relatively cheap bike over there sounds do-able.

Thanks maxumis.
