Looks fantastic, I did a 3 week tour of the south island in 2000 on my ZX9. wasn't enough time, so much more to see on increadible silver roads.

NZ would probably be more 'do-able' for me than a DG rally (although that would be a lifetime highlight).

Just purely out of interest (at this stage anyway) anyone know how much it would cost to have a bike and rider shipped over to NZ, or how easy it is to hire a 12 (or even 14!) over there??. There is a mob called 'Get Routed' in OZ that deals with o/seas trips to IOM etc, I think they may also do NZ.

You'd have to have the bike certified & registered before you could ride it on the roads here, which on top of freight costs the $$$ would mount up considerably.

There are a few businesses that hire bikes but you'd be extremely lucky to find a 14 for hire, a 12 for hire would be like rocking horse shit.

There are a few 12's in dealerships that have been sitting for a looong time and they could be worth approaching to strike a deal. For example New Plymouth Motorcycle Centre has had a 2000 model in black on it's floor for about 3 years now. It has around NZD$10,000 sticker price on it.
