I'll be there with bells on! I'm about three hours south. Check out .: Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Highway | Travel Logs | Canyon Chasers Motorcycle Sport Touring :. . There might be snow in September at the higher altitudes though.

I'll raise my hand.....less than 600 miles..that's doable.

Really no preference on the time slot. Do have a symposium we're hosting mid Sept and I can only hope I'll have something better to do!!

For the people that have never seen the park, the noted super volcano, one might think about taking it in. Beautiful area.

I think I'll work pretty hard to make this! One other possible lodging spot would be Red Lodge, MT. It's a nice little town, but maybe not as convenient to the Tetons. We could also look at the Jackson Hole area or in between Jackson and Yellowstone for lodging. Cody would be fine of course, but some of the other areas might be a bit more scenic. I'll do some researching.

Brother Vinnie, I can't wait to see ya! Can I put you on the list? Any canuck stuff you need? We are all out of ball washers up here, the lucky burglar to them! LOL

We have lots of time to plan this out, but like I said, for me it is the people, so where ever you guys might be is fine with me!!!

Might want to bring something to go off road with!!! =) I have learned from XPLORZ!!! Not to mention....a KEG!

The location is right and I'll do what I can to get the Denver Gang involved.

God knows I could use a rally and this timeframe gives me time to get my 12 all squared away.

What better reunion tour for the old Gal than with you fucking hooligans?

Zumina, you, Vinnie and me might be able to hook up in the Denver proper and share the ride?

Edge, I can definitely bring the KTM SMC for combo off/on road, and the YZ for serious off road! Maybe Moab might be a consideration??!

Blitz, sounds like a plan. I'll probably load the bikes on my trailer, possibly have a little room for more bikeage...

Let me work on the non-tangibles for a bit Ray.

My 12 has literally been in moth-balls for 3 years.

I hate to commit this soon but yes, I do believe I can make this, if nothing else on my own (getting there).

Denver is a bit out of the way since I'm in Salt Lake City. I was planning on heading up I15 and then over. It's about 7 hours total and I will be either trailering or borrowing a van.

Oh wow! I'm coming from Portland so I could make a 3-day motorcycle ride out of this to get there and I would love to meet some peeps! I wonder if Dale can make this... I think I can really try to make any of those dates... I will put in for leave from work as soon as the dates are finalized.

I dont have a preference on the dates. I look at all 3 options and think I can try to make any of them work. Once the dates are finalized, I'll put in for the time off.

Ride or drive, I'll try to make this!

Edge,

Labor Day is September 7th. Generally I think most schools are in full force after that, but it's still a common vacation day. With that in mind, Sep 12th - 19th would probably be a lot better for the traffic. Of course, the later we push it the better the chances we could see some cool weather, especially at the higher altitudes, but I would think we would be OK.

Timing wise, I'd vote for the following in order of preference;

First: 12-19 Sep 2009
Second: 6-12 Sep 2009

Being able to forgo a vacation day by using the Labor Day holiday on the 7th might be a factor for some of us in the US.

How about 8-13 Sep 2009. That would minimize impact on travel holidays as the 7th is a Stat Holdiay. It would also mean riding during the week were there would be less vehicles on the road...thoughts?

Just got off the phone with Vinnie.

It's starting to sound like we have the makings of a rally from our end. :-)

The dates will allow me to get the 12 back together and properly broken in here local and it's looking like Vinnie and I might be able to share the trip so that would work out very well.

Things are looking good thus far. I'm stoked about seeing everybody again (it's been a while for sure) and meeting some new faces.

Mike, get your ass out there. Lash, make it happen bro!

Ray,

I'll take a look at the lodging this weekend and throw in my $.02. I would say "that's $.01 Canadian", but the way our government is spending, that's not valid anymore!

Also looking forward to it!

I spent some time looking at both locations for the rally, and I am now leaning towards the Yellowstone Valley Inn (YVI).

Both sites have cabins with similar features, pools, hot tubs, etc. The KOA is very close to Cody, but it is more expensive and not quite as scenic.

YVI is about 26 km (about 15 miles) west of Cody. The site is very scenic, cheaper and the cabins are closer to the pool/hot tub as well the main building.

I really could be happy at either, so have a look and lets pick soon...

I will look at putting some rides together, but there is so much in that area, I don't think we can see everything!

Lodging really doesn't matter to me guys as long as:

1) The sheets are clean
2) The shower is clean
3) There is a man's breakfast within 10 minutes (McDonalds does NOT qualify LOL)
4) I can shoot my AR-15 off the balcony without pesky interruptions from the local LEO's

Yee Haw!

Well, i just pulled another typical vinnie bonehead move. Dislocated the shoulder today (f***). Spent the last 4 hours in the e-room trying to get it put back in. they finally had to knock me out to get it done.

Not sure where that leaves me for the rally... but i think it depends on how soon i can schedule surgery. i'm so damn tired of healing up after surgeries, guess i need to start acting my age.

wish me luck on a quick surgery date. if i can get it in the next 3 weeks, i should be ok for the rally.

Well, if it had happened while doing something really cool... such as trick sex with two smoking hot babes, or maybe a dramatic crash while jumping the Grand Canyon, I would have been more specific!

Unfortunately, I was "improving my health" with a good workout. Just finished my heavy set on the bench press, and set the weight back, but missed the right bar support when I set the bar down. The whole shooting match came tumbling down, much to the detriment of my right shoulder.

I was finally 100% after last years high speed YZ450 tumble, which resulted in a steel plate and seven screws in the left collar bone.

Only good thing about today's mishap was flirting with the cute nurses in the ER (and maybe some good pain drugs). Looks like another effin year to get my ass healed up and strong again...

Vinnie, my friend, hope you heal up quick. At least you still have one good strong side for hefting pints.

Just remember:

I'm meeting the surgeon on August 4th, so depending on his schedule and how many days off work it requires will determine whether I can make it or not. I'm hoping to make it, as I'm needing a cool break in God's country!

Wish me luck. Sounds like arthroscopic surgery probably won't be an option because of past injuries, so opening it up to do a more robust repair may be required.

Who else is still in?

You won't have any problem sleeping in a tent because it's too "hot" in N. Wyoming in September! ;)

Wish me luck. Sounds like arthroscopic surgery probably won't be an option because of past injuries, so opening it up to do a more robust repair may be required.

I'm getting the "slow" treatment from the surgeon I'm seeing. He's an older gentleman, very experienced, but I think he works on his own schedule! ;) I go in for a more thorough exam on the 24th - they'll put me under so that I won't unintentionally fight the doctor's manipulation. It's either this exam or an MRI. From there I'm guessing surgery, but the doc made me feel pretty good about that. He's done a bazillion of them, and it sounds like a pretty quick rehab.

As for the rally, it sounds like it's unwinding. Jeff and I are still talking about it, and we'll work on Ray and anyone else interested if we decide to meet somewhere. I talked to Blitz the other day and it sounds like he'll be unavailable due to an unfinished bike and some other obligations, but I think he's pretty pumped up for 2010. Right now I could seriously use the time off in a nice cool environment - good rides followed by cold beers and tasty steaks! We'll see what my exam on the 24th brings forth for a surgery schedule.

Hope you and GTBY are doing well!
