She is a 2001 model and has only covered 5000miles and has been serviced every 12 months :loco: regardless of mileage !!!!!!!!!!!

1 owner from new and not a mark on her !

Bargain money too.....

anyway I'd like to pick your brains for any recalls I need to be aware of and if there any place the info is logged.....

Sad to say the 12's finally let me down, and after 2500 miles of faultless touring it does it the next time I go to use her... good girl for not leaving me stranded in the alps though!!

I hit the starter this morning and she rolled over a couple of times, then just as soon as the cylinders started firing they stopped again, and the starter became a louder higher pitched whine. At which point I left well alone and commuted on the MV instead (worrying when you rely on the Italian bike to backup the jap's!)

This evening the bike won't fire, not even the rumble of a cylinder catching (I wonder if they're turning). Just that higher pitch whine

My guess is that a starter gear has failed or something horrid like that which will require hours of digging inside the bike...

Any ideas? i am lookiing at buying a y2k ZX12 with 9500 miles on the clock. from the pics ot looks very clean and well looked after. is there anything specific i should be looking at when i go to see it? are there any hidden problems that could jump out and attack me at say, 160? if i buy it when i see it, i will have a very nice 7 hour ride home, so i want to make sure before going all that way.

any help would be great!

What do you think will be the best way to fit radial calipers to a '2000 12R?

I use this bike only in racetrack and it has been modified for that:
Frame/body :

Marchesini mag rims
Ohlins rear shock
Ohlins fork spring
Discacciati (non radial) calipers
Brambo radial master cylinder
Pirelli Slick
Full composite fairings
Carbon/kevlar underseat fuel tank (half weight of the stock one!)
Single shortened seat (neoprene cuschion.. very light)


Engine
Ported head
Wisecos ( 13.5/1 CR )
Power Commander 3 (custom map)
Custom made exaust sys ( 4-2-1 )

with this setup the bike is very nice to ride, and pulls like a train (191 RWHP and a very smooth curve)

I'm out of the track since 2004 (whan I started my aviation career..) but now I want to start again :)

I want to refresh my bike with some "modern age" thing:

-PC 3USB (What's the story with the "revXtend" option??)
-PC quick shift ( how do you like this unit?)

Last but not least I want to swap my original forks with some new fork with radial calipers...
Are the 2004 12r fork a direct swap? are the 10r forks similar or they require extensive mods?
