Hi
Recently bought a GTR1400 but at 5'7" I need to lower the bike and was thinking a lower seat or possibly cut the existing seat, anyone had a similar issue and if so how was it resolved....Jim KERR
A dude in heels might not be a good look.
Lowering kit is easiest option.
Not familiar with your bike but if you are able to fit longer dog bones and drop the forks in the front clamps a similar amount, it will give the desired height wirhout removing foam and numbing your ass on long hauls Good luck with it.
Removing foam doesnt lower a great deal.
Its easy diy if you want to do it, you just undo the staples , chop the foam, put a thinner bit in and re staple stretching the seat. 30 mins... ah but I am an upholsterer
I dont think it will lower you enough. Dog bones are cheap and can be taken off at a later date.
Super job
Glad to hear you got a good cheap solution.
Ive got 3 different sets from them plus a muzzy 3 hole set that I ground on the return road at Santa pod , now a 2 hole set .Oops!
You might find it adventageous, if possible on your bike, to slide the forks down a similar amount to maintain steering geometry. Just lowering the rear sometimes makes the front heavier in the corners.
I've got a sergeant seat for sale that's the lower model it helped on my Conny
