Question Concours 14 Comfort

I'm an elderly guy who has an 08 Goldwing and a 09 Yamaha Raider. Both bikes are very comfortable. Yesterday I rode a 2012 Concours and loved the bike except it was very uncomfortable. All my weight was on my hands and wrists. I think maybe if the handlebars were higher and back a little the bike would have been more comfortable. If I can make a Concours fit me a little bit better I will buy one. It is a awesome bike. Any suggestions on parts and accessories available to make the Concours more comfortable.

Lots of owners buy the bar risers to lift the bars up and back a little. I've owned my c14 for about a year now and really enjoy the bike. Check out the Concours Owners Forum (COG ) for additional information.

I dont have a connie, I have the ninjas

the more aggressive seating on a bike requires a little different approach from the rider

More use of core muscles , stomach

a little squeeze of the knees

the more aggressively i ride the easier it is on me

I have bad carpal tunnel and am reminded instantly when Im being lazy & laying my weight on my hands/bars. Track days give me no problem ( maybe I could get a doctor to prescribe track days for my health? ;) )

I did an iron butt on my zx-10 & a just-under 1000 mile day last summer on my zx-12 without any problems so its possible , granted Im only 58 yet.

my zx-14 came with risers & lowered pegs & I removed them. Sold the pegs but still have the risers if you're interested

You might cut the seat down some too. That might help. I also have a Corbin seat for the 14 that I believe swaps to the Connie Whatever it takes to keep riding

I had a 2009 that I put the bar risers on and still had issues with my carpal tunnel to include buying slip on foam comfort grips and heavier bar ends and still the same. I put 35k on that bike in two years. I got a 2012 last May and didn't do anything but bar ends and not a problem with my carpel tunnel like my last bike. I've got 20k on this one. No other changes. I love my Connie and have been from Niagara Falls to New Orleans this past summer. Not a problem with comfort.

2009 Kawasaki Concours 1400 (35k)
2012 Kawasaki Concours 1400 present bike (20k)

I have a 2012 Connie. Did a 9 hour drive back from dealership and invested in the Helibars. They do the trick. Very comfortable. Google Concours and Arizona State Police for some good pictures.
