Brother in law got pinched part 2 Trials over

Well, the trial ended today. Guilty on all counts. He's looking at up to 10 yrs in the ironbar hotel, 3 yrs minimum before he's eligible for parole. I don't know if that's going to be county or state prison, but either way, it's not going to be fun. My guess is that it'll be the state pen either Rahway or Trenton. Both are pretty horrible places. Rahway was one of the prisons they did the original filming for 1978's Scared Straight in which kids were escorted in to have a "talk" with some of the lifers there.

Sorry to read that, Skip... But it looks like he effed-up pretty good...

Cuz he's in your (extended) family, I'll assume he's an o.k. guy, & I don't know the laws in the Garden State, BUT an illegal gun sale ain't anything to mess with... The feds have NO sense of humor, I've heard...

Whatever the circumstances, I feel sorry for the family that has to deal with all the fallout - Really suxx...

In (un)related news:
With the recent tragic fiasco in Aurora, CO, folks can expect to see a general stiffening of penalties (IMHO)... So when his sentencing is done, it might suck pretty much...

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

No, he was pretty much an asshole. After cheating on my sister, he let their 12 properties all go into foreclosure, including their primary residence. my sister and her 2 kids moved back in with my parents. He owes 90G's in back child support as well. So, no, he's just a fuckin douchebag. Read some of my comments in the link to the articles. Even though some of them have "mysteriously" disappeared.

Riiiiiiiight... Well, fugg this guy then!!

Sorry for your sis & the kiddos, but better to say good riddance & move along, huh??

On the firearms rap - In reading all the stuff I found, it sounds like he might be getting shafted (too bad on that)... BUT if the guy's an asshole (which it sounds like) - I say: "Karma's a bitch, mothafuka!!"

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Um I would say you're almost right. A firearms charge in NJ is serious shit.
In fact you can get busted for simply having a BB gun. It's a bitch to get an FID card for a handgun and almost impossible to get a concealed carry.

Umm... Fuk that real mucho...

After they (da gubmint) take all our guns away, how long before they come for high-performance motorcycles??

...Then our non-electric cars, our bass boats, our high-performance music systems, telescopes, stamp collections, sex toys, riding lawn mowers, tanning beds, & (last, but not least) our Dick Nixon masks?? Makes me mad...

I guess I'll stay down here in backwoods Kentucky where I can legally own & carry whatever I want (and can afford!!)...

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Dude, you have no idea how lucky you guys in other states are.
For example- I work with a kid who just got his license. You want to see how nazi like our state has become?
State of New Jersey - Motor Vehicle Commission

It's just really bizarre to me how people seem to go along with more laws, rules, and regulations so long as it doesn't affect them directly. Want quieter exhausts on bikes? Sure I don't own a motorcycle. Support no smoking in bars? Sure I don't smoke. Support stringent gun laws? Yup, only cops should have guns. And so on. Just look at what that douchebag Bloomberg is trying to do with NYC. Tries to get rid of salt, then soft drinks, and now he wants to make it harder for new mothers to use formula while in the hospital. Seriously? WTF man, just WTF....

Come on down to Georgia. Got CWP in a week and a half. Can carry whatever and whenever I want, and trust me I do!!! After all I live in Atlanta! A state that allows you to lethally shoot someone for trying to take your shit. (Car or bike jacking) or anyone who enters your home with implied intent to harm.

Hell there was a story the other week where some perps were waiting outside the house as a family came home and jumped them and tried to forceably take them inside as a home invasion, well what they didnt know the dad driving was packing and shot one dead in the front yard and clipped the other one as he was running off. The latter was eventually found dead in the woods at the beginning of their subdivision. All the police had to say in the news interview was "oh well, I guess they picked the wrong house"!!!

LOVE IT!!!!

Good story... I've always shared Robert A. Heinlein's concept that "An armed society is a polite society"... When malcontents & ne'er-do-wells have to consider that their malicious acts might result in their getting (immediately) dead, they might reconsider some of their life-choices... Alternately, if they don't choose to think it thru & go ahead & commit - Mebby they get forcibly removed from the gene pool... Either way the neighborhood improves!!

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Here in NJ, they would arrest you for something like that. I don't know if you'd be going to jail, but they would try and argue that the guy running away was no longer a threat and that you used excessive force.
And if that charge doesn't stick, you'd still have to deal with the decedents family suing you for wrongful death. Either way, both trials would be costly and probably bankrupt you.

I am all for better neighborhoods!!!!! That gene pool thing works well in a lot of different ways. Just take a ride up into a place like Deal's Gap NC and watch some of these folks that own 20 thousand dollar motorcycles and have not invested anything in learning how to ride them. Funny watching a guy tip toe a $45,000 Harley CVO in a u-turn on a side street, and still drop it!!! Much less some of the guys who try taking switchbacks on sportbikes at 90+ miles an hour with no clue what they are doing and ending up sliding bikes all over the place. The outcome is probable as many are eventually airlifted out to the hospital. Saw two with my own eyes this past weekend.

The law isnt about common sense......lots of obviously good guidelines but very much flawed......to follow it without using your brain is like trying to do mechanics with bare hands.....just isnt gona work for real life application in the long run......if the law was to jump off a bridge would you do it?.....and if someone else did it and told you that you should too based on their own opinion would you take their word for it?........bad people get handled sometimes this way but then good people get screwed an awful lot also so should thay be an acceptable sacrifice?......collateral damage?......higher cost of living?......we leave the decisions up to the people who will not likely sufger these variables and therefore cant relate and I wont even start on the profits raked off the injustice system......some are acting like conservatives have just given up all decision making to the liberals........its an invisible distinction.....politicians flip flop all the time they arent liberals or conservatives they are POLOTICIANS who are paid to stir up this shitstorm argument of whos fault it is that our basic freedoms are beimg threatened....classic nazi (and other empires) scenario of creatimg an internal conflict and using it to subvert all established freedoms.....the similarities are endless......hitler had a patriot act and homeland security designed after creating an internal conflict JUST LIKE THE U.S.........if you compare answers and info from every point of view it really helps to weed out the obvious lies or truth of the matter which is why i welcome criticism or advice on anything ive said for the chance that I might be missing a major variable or something.......on the other hand please think before you speak so I dont have to waste words pointing out obvious contradictions or discrepancies
