How many LEOs have dealt with a PCP user hands on?

Just had my first! Once they get disillusioned, it's game on. Very irritable, then it progresses. I tased this asshole, he got 4 rides. It did it's job but then failed to really allow time to cuff the individual. It ended up going to full on hand to hand to get him cuffed. He kept saying he was God! I forgot to mention he was butt naked in his mom's living room like it was nothing. Craziness. He was high for a couple of days in God mode, couldn't even see the Judge to be magistrated. I have never seen a 5-06 135# guy so strong. Glad I called for other Deputies.

Indeed! A 21! Kinda hard to justify perforating a naked guy with three Deputies in the room.

Glock Mod 21 = 13 + 1 rounds of 45 cal. It would be easy to justify. The three deputies would be collateral damage. Sometimes they have to take one for the team.

Just a few seconds to make a decision that attorneys have weeks to form an "opinion". I don't need any excess litigation in my line of work. With todays society I would be in jail if I shot his dumb ass. Gotta look out for No. 1 and my partners, even if No. 1 isn't the one going home that night! It's easy to armchair quarterback.........

I worked 10 years in the downtown core of a million plus city, and have had to arrest a few "unarmed" people high on drugs. One broke my left kneecap...my partner and I were NOT able to take him into custody. It was only with the help of several UC's that we managed to control him enough to get handcuffs on. It took 11 weeks + physio to get back to full duties.

Very dangerous situations that unless you have been there you have absolutely no idea what your commenting on.

On a side note there is never an unarmed physical conflict...the police officer brings the weapons to the fight, and if he/she is over powered can easily have them taken by the offender. There are many, many instances where the officer is then killed with his own weapon. Pretty hard to fight someone who feels no pain, has super human strength and is impaired by drugs. Always lots of armchair quarterbacking follows such use of force incidents, but it comes down to the individual officer, HIS perceptions at that moment in time that count. Trying to explain this to those who have not done it is like...well, you know...

10-4.

BTW... My US marshal friend, Eraserhead, said he did the same thing, fought a naked dude on PCP, when he was a county cop. Said they were wrestling on the sidewalk in front of the dude's house. Said he reached for his 38 spl and it wasn't in his holster. Eraserhead and the dude spotted it on the ground at the same time. Another cop who just got there started beating the dude over the head with his maglight flashlight when he bent over to get the gun. Eraserhead whacked him too with his flashlight or club or something. Said he thought they'd never put him down. Oh yeah, I believe he said the dude's mother was screaming at them the whole time. Debi and I'll see Eraserhead tonight at dinner and get the details. This happened back in the 70's or 80's. But, he likes to talk about such things.

Jeesh Mark, we KNOW your never too serious about anything! Now about your Buell....

There was another post that was put in to stir the pot....I will leave it at that.

My comment was to solidify what Crunch was trying to get across in his post...these types of confrontations are not fun, and actually pretty scary.

Did this about 12 years ago. Had a juice head on dust. I'm 6'4" 270lbs. It took 3 other officers my size to take this guy down. Never thought that encounter would have turned out that way. We thought we were going to have to a bullet or few in him...

I don't act-up when I'm on PCP. Now morphine mixed with tequila in a ER with a bunch of pretty nurses.. that's another story. (hell, I don't really know if they were pretty... don't even remember if they were female....)
