lane changing

Ok,so another hypothetical event. On a three lane highway, with the car in the far left and far right lanes both merging into the center lane.Who has the right of way?It has happened to me where I want to pass the car ahead of me in the far right lane and there was one to my left also. When I am passed the one in the center lane and can safely move over, another car from the far left lane passes the car in the middle lane and tries to move over also.Never even seen the vehicle due to a difference of speed. There hasn't been an accident yet and I will always try to avoid one but who is right?

1. Motorcycles are invisible.
2. Cars always win.

I believe in most states it is illegal to pass on the right, even on a 3 lane interstate, so I would say the guy in the left lane has the right of way.

When Life throws you a curve, lean harder and aim for the apex throttle out hard boiling the rear tire and wheelie on.

Bingo!!

I'm no expert, but IMHO: For a vehicle (on a US road) to pass (overtake) when traveling in the right lane is usually illegal... To move to the center lane from either the right or left lane without allowing room for other vehicles occupying the roadway would be an "improper lane change" or "failure to yield right-of-way" at the LEAST...

Since we're close to touching on my pet peeve, let me say that I feel anyone traveling in the left lane can ONLY be doing one of 2 things:
1) Passing another (slower-moving) vehicle
2) Pissing someone off

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

My pet peeve is drivers who merge onto a busy highway doing 35mph and keep it on the economy mode accelerating up to 50mph in a half mile.
