What speed is too fast for LEO's to give chase?

Let me start this off by saying that I would never run from the cops, just
to be doing it :)
Is there a speed that the police will not give chase or is it just an indivdual
call? About 2 years ago I was playing a little on the highway with a guy in
one of those Dodge RT trucks. Needless to say that when I decided to put
the hammer down and let him know who the boss was I passed a State
Trooper comming in the other direction. I almost crapped my pants, I
look @ my speedo as I was slowing dwon through 140. I saw him hit is
brake lights, but that was all I ever saw. I hit the throttle again and bailed
a couple of exits down.

It would come down to the cops own call. I'd hazard a guess that most veteran cops won't bother when they know there's little chance, while most new cops will come after ya no matter what the circumstances.

I had a State Officer pull me over recently. I passed him at 120+. He was clocking radar in the other direction. I then wicked it up to 140+. A few miles down the road he pulled me over.

It is all about the individual officer.

I talked to a Trooper in Utah at the Superbike races last year and he said he wouldn't bother with a chase over 105mph. I would just be getting into second gear by then.

If there is a helicopter they will follow any speed. well untill 160's and they have to swoop for speeds up to 200 I have been told

Our local helo, used to be a whirly bird topped out at 130ish.. its been outrun by locals here.. We for a long time had a no chase policy because a chase ended up with some dead kids on a bike but I think its been overturned. I dont pay much attention any more since I dont do things like that any more.
